Punk!

Anyhow went to local gun shop and was able to find a 29-6 with 8 3/8" barrel for $599.

Has original box, manuals etc. Doesn't have the wood grips though. But it looks like it's never been fired and is in excellent condition.

So did I make a mistake?

Attached photo (I believe).

You did excellent sir. i have the same gun (dash 6) and it only came with the rubber Hogues. Great snag!!

Slammer

A slammer of a wheeler at same price, possibly unfired and long barrel coolness! Conversation piece and a handful to shoot? I'll say so, a good deal indeed my friend!

Lucky??? I'll say ya got lucky!! A hand cannon for $599 alone is a great deal, but with the box and docs too? You don't see That every day. You played the lottery too , right?
The mod.29 hand cannons are a riot to shoot too! Just ask 75Vette here. From some of the pics he's posted he must be shootin em double fisted , double action at a round a second with the amount of brass that he shows piled up! :D

Thanks guys. I thought it was too good to pass up. I am almost paranoid on whether I should shoot it. I will post some better pics later. I still have to sneak it in to the house if you can relate.... ;)

Yea, you paid too much for it, but since I am such a nice guy, I will take it off of your hands for what you paid for it......and I have a bridge I can make you a deal on also.....:)

PS: you did well..

Yea surfing it seems dash 6 edition all came with the hogue rubber grips. Guess I am stuck with them unless there is another wood grip option.

I did a quick price check while at store though and it seemed under priced. Kinda nice I get something on my wish list, and I can help a local business...

Now I need a 27 from years back so it has a buddy in the safe. :)

Great buy - well bought!

Regarding wood grips, is it a square butt or round butt? If you remove the grips and post a picture, we'll easily be able to tell.

Thanks Warren Sear for your comments. I have some round butt N Frames that also came with the Hogue Gripper (S&W logo) grips. While the Gripper grips are comfortable, IMO, they are most unattractive!

I would suggest looking at this recent Ahrends grip thread:
http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/479720-kim-ahrends-stocks-my-pistols.html I've purchased a couple pair of the round to square butt conversion Retro Target grips from Gripseller on eBay. That vendor (Terri) is the only one I know of who sells THE ACTUAL grips you are seeing - you have the best chance of selecting the grips you want to buy anywhere, including the Ahrends (where you find out what your grips look like when you open the package). Terri is very kind and easy to work with!

You'll need to decide if you want round butt, square butt, combat, target style, etc. You may want to look at the Ahrends website to see their offerings, then look at the grips offered by Gripseller to select the ones you like best.

I really like the retro Target grips because they fit my hands. I also like the S & W square butt Target grips; the Ahrends are similar, but much thinner.

Congratulations on a great revolver at a great price.

Take it out and enjoy it.

I like the square butt Coco Bolo look best. I don't see any screws on the pistol though with the current grips. Are these difficult to remove?
