This first pic is 1 magazine sighting in, off hand @ 20 yards, the Vortex Strikefire red dot.

This second pic, is 5 magazines, 125 rounds, all standing off hand, @ 20 yards. Very fast shots, no bench rest, no assist, just free standing as fast as I could run it through 5 magazines.

What impressed me the most is how well this gun does, "until it gets dirty" with the crappiest ammo on the market. I tried the Remington Bucket O Bullets, obviously for cheap plinking and range ammo but I didn't realize how cheaply made this ammo was. The bucket says "new and improved" but the bullets themselves are barely on the case. You can wiggle them and spin them and they bend away from the case when trying to go up the feed ramp.

After a couple mags through the gun, as it started to get dirty, this ammo caused malfunction after malfunction. I assumed it would have the occasional problem here or there because you pay for what you get, but this ammo is beyond pathetic. Never again will I run that junk, even for cheap plinking. I'd rather spend the extra money to have fun when I shoot then having to clear malfunctions every 3rd shot.

All that aside, I plan to go back to the range this Friday if I don't have too much work pop up between now and then. This time I will run CCI only. I want to see how reliable and accurate it can be running through 500 rounds non stop.

If you take a look in the manual, it specifically says not to use Golden Bullets.

I had the same problem using them. They are crappy. I found the CCI (any) and the Federal Auto Match work well in my rifle.

No. It does not say that. The manual says its not recommended. With 22lr ammo in shortage in certain areas of the country, you gotta shoot what you can find. I don't use them. I'm stocked up on the better stuff.

That was written over five years ago. The vast majority of the ammo on the market today is not on S&W's recommended list. No knowledgeable shooter pays any attention to either (woefully outdated) list.

And is DOES NOT specifically say not to use them. Go back and read what the manual actually says.

Reading comprehension for the...

oh wait, never mind.

As others have posted, that is definitely not what it says in the manual. And that was some fine shooting, OP! Well done!

Nice shooting. I bought 3 525 round boxes of golden bullets and I have had zero issues with them. I knew that they were on S&W's might not perform well list, but ammo is ammo.

Aside from bent a bit dirty I have had the least problems overall compared to several other brands. Some malfunctions where the projectile gets canted in the case are more likely due to magazine feeding problems.
I have used them in several Ruger SR22 and Ruger 10/22 a S&W M&P 22 and a S&W 22a all with little to no problems. Compared that some federal thay had failure to fire despite clear multiple hammer strikes.
If I could get mini-mags and stingers for the same price as golden bullets in bulk quantities I would likely only shoot those but at the moment the Rem GBs are the easiest to get for less than 5¢ a round.

I have shot a bunch of old ammo through my 15-22's as of late, stuff I put away in the sixties and seventies. Those rifles gobble anything as does my new M&P Compact. I just pulled out some 50rd paper box Mini Mag's and some 100 rd plastic boxes, the plastic had price tags of $2.25 each....Those prices are gonna' kill me so man I gotta' start looking for sales !
