I tried, but failed. But can it be called "failing"?

I packed up two guns. A Canik and a Walther. Neither of which I am fond of. Both minty fresh, maybe fired 100 rounds through each over the past few years.

My plan was simple. Hit a few pawn shops. If I saw a S&W I wanted, I'd try to work out a deal and trade the two black pistols for a wheel gun. Didn't see anything that blew up my skirt, until I got to Bear Arms (Scottsdale). They had a model 29-3 in great shape for $700. Looks to be made between 1982 and 1988. So I ran out to the truck, grabbed the two guns to show the guy at the counter. They wouldn't give me enough in trade, but I bought the gun anyway.

So I'm still stuck with the other two, but I have a nice blued 29 to park next to my 629. No box, papers, original grips. Just the gun. I'm going to find some nice wooden grips for this thing. Any suggestions?

Don't yell at me for the dirty truck.

Nice 29! I'd have used the 2 you mentioned to reduce the price on the 29 if possible.
Plastic guns have their place IMO, but a majestic steel classic is an heirloom.

Had couple residences in Scottsdale and Bear Arms was 1 of my favorite "gun" places. Kirk (owner) great guy. Also NW Armory deserves mention; right next to Scottsdale Gun Club. Miss Scottsdale.

I also appreciate Bear Arms. Great shop. I wasn't upset about their offer. That's business.

NW Armory also a good shop. I picked up a used Springfield Ronin real cheap there. Looks brand new. Fires just fine.

THATS a "dirty" truck......HA!
20 years old. Almost. 300K miles. I go divorced in 2017. Back then when I was broke, I was hoping it would last me a year. Ever heard the old joke "If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself"? Well, apply that to my truck. At some point I just started keeping the fluids in it, and other minimalist maintenance to keep it road worthy. Then one day, I realized a few years had passed, then a few more.

Here we are, eight years later, and that thing still goes. I was actually pondering dropping a fresh engine and trans in it, but I honestly feel that might be what triggers the domino effect, and other things start failing. So I've decided to just drive it and continue the path I've been on, and at some point, I'll have that repair come up which might not be worth spending the money on. At that point, I'll look at newer vehicle options. I'd actually like to find a very nice condition, older (90s) Ford F-150 like I had before. I traded it towards the Ram, which was fine, but that old Ford still had a lot of life left in it.

This is my 95 F150. I like it.
