I uncovered a sad story....

My wife's uncle Bob glidered into D-day and never spoke a word about it. Until my wife's brother ended up in the same regiment almost 40 years later. Uncle Bob was a quiet man, worked hard....drank lots, avoided close friendships whenever possible, including his children. Bob died on the operating table, during a simple/routine/minor heart operation, his heart wouldn't start back up. And so his nightmares had ended at last. RIP!

I feel that the country on the whole, seems to treat our guys and gals coming back from oversees, rather well.

I cannot imagine how bad it must have been to come back from Southeast Asia in 1975 and be spat upon and told that you were a scumbag for doing your duty, though. Those guys and gals had it rough.

Amen to that. Also, I noticed that hanoi jane is still spouting off too. I saw one of those Watters World segments and he was trying to interview that dope. All hanoi jane said in answer to his query on how hanoi jane felt about all the asians that were killed after we left Nam--and hanoi said something ike: it was our fault it happened tobegin with--which was a direct link to whats now happening in Iraq. Seems to me like hanoi jane is a bitter has-been.:D

I think progress has been made, since now we all know that PTSD is real and not just "nerves". At least you don't get slapped for it, now. We still have a long way to go. I've taken my Dad to veteran hospitals back in the 80s and 90s. I think the problems that are surfacing now, go way, way back. They're probably as old as the VA itself.
C'mon guys, this thread is too important for it to get locked for petty political statements.
