I want a BBQ rig!

Well, I hope to get one in the future... if I only could afford it...

FYI, I like most Nick Nolte movies, especially Extreme Prejudice. Love this movie.

With a little research I have found out that Chisholm's Trail is making them and I really love their adaptation of Jack Benteen's rig.

I admire Texas Ranger's, wish I could be one. With that being said, I'd never wear it with that type of belt buckle as seen in the picture. Simply out of respect.

It's my rig that Dave made for me, but that's his pistol in the picture. A lot of his handguns have some beautiful engraving work on them.

I build just a few rigs a year.......

I build em to use.....note the relief at the grip,

there's room to take the proper grip on the pistol for the draw and firing without the need to reposition.

That holster is identical to the one worn by Sgt. Joaquin Jackson of the Tx Rangers, who was the technical advisor for Extreme Prejudice..... I had the pleasure of working with Jackson on locating an escapee from jail. He, along with a Border Patrolman and I went into Ojinaga Mexico, and came back empty handed............

Just finished reading "One Ranger", autobiography by Joaquin Jackson. Very interesting read!

After hearing that video clip, I am surprised he is STILL an NRA Board member! I would definitely save your money that you would have spent on HIS book and use it on a fine BBQ rig.

It may help in understanding Ranger Joaquin Jackson's thoughts and opinions to know a couple of things:

1. His oldest son, after discharge from the USMC, was convicted of murdering a homosexual man during an armed robbery, and is now serving time in a New Mexico penitentiary.

2. One of Jackson's most troubling investigations involved a senseless murder and assault of 3 people on a peaceful boating trip on the border by 3 adolescent Mexican boys out shooting rifles without supervision. Straightforward thrill killing without any signs of remorse, basically started shooting at people in a boat on the river, then hunted them down to finish them off. Killed a young man, seriously wounded the wife, and also wounded the river guide, then ate lunch and went home.

I may not agree with Ranger Jackson on every point, but the man has certainly earned the right to his opinions, after about 10 years as a Texas DPS officer another 30 years as a Texas Ranger.

All I'm gonna say is Jackson doesn't represent my values and my NRA.

Kinda like an ol catfish talking outta both sides of his mouth.

He supports everyone's rights to 'keep and bear arms'....
But, with limitations toward all us law abiding folks.

I personally don't give a flip what's happen in his personal life to sour him up on the rest of us....

I just know a load of horse manure when it's shoveled up like that.

It is not my intent to be rude or argumentative, but my point is that we must understand what motivates those with whom we disagree on 2nd Amendment issues in order to effectively communicate our positions.

Here in Colorado there is a gentleman named Mauser who has been very active in recent years stumping for several "gun control" measures. I have not met Mr. Mauser, but I know that he lost a teenaged son in the Columbine School incident. I do not agree with Mr. Mauser, but I can certainly empathize with his opinions, and I understand that these issues are so closely tied in to his emotions that it would be extremely difficult for him to relate to any logic or reason in discussions of these issues.

Down in Texas there is a gentleman named Jackson, who has formulated an opinion to the effect that certain types of firearms do not belong in civilian hands. I do not agree with Mr. Jackson, but I understand that he has lost a son to serious alcohol abuse leading to a calculated crime against homosexuals resulting in a murder. I also understand that Mr. Jackson has been exposed through his long career in law enforcement to many victims of horrible crimes. I believe that Mr. Jackson's opinions have been strongly affected by his emotional reactions to tragedies. I doubt that any amount of reason or logical analysis is likely to change those opinions.

I do not dismiss these people because I disagree with their opinions or conclusions. I try to understand them and respect their rights to speak their minds openly.

I apologize for the thread drift here, but I believe these are important points to understand.

Those 'Ranger' buckles are available to the general public...

Not all of those style of buckles are 'Ranger' buckles....




Like you I prefer my own style.

Great work as always,Dave. Wouldn't mind one myself as my swivel skills are non existent.

This is one of the few I've made that qualify as a bbq rig...hardly on the same plain as a nice Sheridan rig. Customers don't usually like the price tag of good buckle sets or mine don't anyways.
