Didn't want to step all over the other 357 loading thread...as my question is a bit different. Last year I purchased a bunch of Bullets in an online but local auction Got 2- 2000 round cases of Remington 357 SJHP 158 gr bullets...sold one and kept one A few weeks ago the purchaser asked if I had any 303 JSP bullets...I had gotten a 1000 round case in the same auction...we made the trade. So with more bullets than I will ever need....I need some help with a 357 load with those bullets...Like to get a good load at about 3/4 or so max. No barn burners necessary as I can make a few of them with L'il Gun. ...I have many powders available All the Dots. Unique Herco 2400 and most others. I would prefer to stay away from 296/H110. Have approx 1800 cases...half new SL and half once fired more available. These will be shot out of 27s 686s and probably 19/66s. Along with reason for the somewhat reduced load...my wife's BH 357. Maybe a good load for rifle with the same bullets...most primers available. Been years since I've loaded something like this. Any help is appreciated... Oh the rifle is a Winchester 94 357 rifle not carbine....When done I'm selling the Dillon 750 set up in 357 Thanks for looking

My pet 357 mag load for the last 40 years has been 6.5 grains Unique with any 158 gr. JSP or JHP .
Try 6.5 , 6.6 , 6.7 and 6.8 grs and see what your six-guns like ...
My Ruger Blackhawk liked 6.5 grsUnique so we stuck with it .

Might sound strange.. I've never loaded a 158 gr JACKETED bullet in 357. Nave loaded lots of cast..but since I have 4000 of the Remington's....it's a no brainer. I have much less than a 100 dollars in them. I also have over a 1000 Win 125 gr JHPs that are going into 38 sp...probably with Unique . Thanks for the recommendations I have Blue the least of the Dots.. I load a fair amount of Herco in the 44 with lead bullets. I load Unique with my serious 41 mag loads with a 245 gr WFNGC bullet

Yeah, I'll VERY RARELY shoot JHP pistol bullets at the range like I did years ago when things were more available/affordable. Having a 'lot' of cheap bullets would be about the only reason I'd do so.

The 125 JHP bullet is pretty easy to get a hold of and I shot a lot of them in my 686 revolver
with 8 grs of CFE, for a nice target load that was at POA at 25 yards.
A sleeper was the old 140 XTP, seldom used and lower in price, if you can find them.
My 6" was very accurate with 10 grs of Blue Dot powder.

The childen loved the 158 lead with 4.7 grs of Trail Boss, for targets, off a bench.

Have fun with the rifle loads.

I have shot a lot of .357's with 12.0 2400. Shoots good in all of my handguns and my Marlin carbine. I had a 94 Winchester rifle and it really liked the same load.

I can't imagine what more powder would do that the 12 gr. load with 160 cast SWC won't do. And, as you say, it's accurate in just about anything.
