I WANT ANOTHER S&W

If you can't decide between .45 ACP & .45 Colt.... and 2.75" isn't too short of a barrel - get a Governor! (See the thread running now.)

Great for those days of indecision as to what to shoot at the range... even .410s!

Hi William; I just purchased a brand new S&W M24 in 44 special with a 6 1/2" barrel in nickel. Next to this one in the case was a S&W M629 classic in 44mag with a 4" barrel and a S&W M625 in 45long colt w/4" barrel also. These were the last two brand new N frames he had. He is out of stock when these two sell. I went there looking for a S&W M57 w/4" barrel in nickel to close out my collection in 41mags. but my chances of getting it were slim to none. He sold a lot of N frames in just a few months.

I'm not sure about the S&W N frames??? One rumor is S&W can't keep up with the demand. I hope they never stop offering the N frames and the famous S&W nickel finish too. All he had left in the case in high numbers was the J frames.

My gotta have list stands at;
(brand new)
S&W M29 44mag 6 1/2" barrel in nickel
S&W M57 41mag 4" barrel in nickel
S&W M27 357mag 6 1/2" barrel in nickel or blue
S&W M629 classic 44mag 4" barrel stainless
S&W M625 45 long colt 4" barrel stainless

(used)
S&W M28 357mag 4" blue
S&W M28 357mag 6" blue

Subject to change at anytime. I'm just going slow now.

With the shortage of the S&W N frames with the loc i wonder if the new S&W N frames when they finally arrive will have the loc or not. If they don't my gotta have list will increase.

Well, that's some narrow but conflicting criteria. Not bigger that .41 mag, but you want a .45 Colt?

Assuming the smaller than .41 and no I, K or L frames are accurate, that leaves you with an N-frame .357, or a J-frame.

Since you already have 2 M28s, I agree with Stainz, a 27 or 627. Over .41 caliber, I'd want a .45 ACP for the full-moon clips. But I'm just not a .45 Colt fan.

Have you considered a post-1960 22/32 or one of it's descendants? That's the only J-frame that would interest me.

What would really set my propellers spinning is a 610, but they're pretty pricey.

P.S. after reading your last reply, I don't think a .45 ACP would be easier to find than an LC, especially if pre-lock is a requirement. As I said, I'm not a .45 Colt fan, but I do regret letting my cased, nickled 25-5 get away (sniff, sniff).

Hello William

Instead of getting caliber / model specific here, how about something that is already drilled and tapped for scope mounts? If I re-call correctly, everything you have has iron sights. Might be a good change of pace to have something with a small red dot. Would even be holster practical with the right sight. Mounted a Burris FastFire on one of my 1911's, and really enjoy it.

My usual poor job of communicating.
.45 LC or .45 ACP----the acp would be less expensive ammo cost wise.
.45's---the recoil being less than a .44mag---not bullet size.
No big hurry though. i will keep thumbing thru the fer sales and see what I can find.
Blessings

I don't know if you would consider it a snubby At 3.5," but a model 51 "J" frame in .22mrf is a very sweet revolver. Good luck.

610...sounds like you are not adverse to another cartridge. The 10mm/40S&W will give you a pretty encompassing range of ammo choices. I like to shoot 200 gr trunc cone lead bullets loaded in .40 cases. But I also have some max load 10mm jhp for when I feel like shooting something more magnum like.

The S&W 610 is no bigger than a .41 magnum. N frame, stainless, rimless cartridges (moon clips), two calibers : 10 mm auto and .40 S&W. It fits perfectly your wishes and 44Wheelman "stole" me this proposition ;)

Regards, Phil

Is this a serious thread? Or is someone pulling our leg?

I bet you're a lot of fun when you go to the local eatery and check out the dinner specials......an hour later you actually order....but wait......

After 800 + posts would think you have likes and dislikes and certain preferences by now.

Ok, but anyway, since you kinda asked....625s are FUN.
