Ok I'm a revolver guy BUT after seeing Pictures for Cylinder and Slide's 1903 proto type .45. I thought this was one S&W could be making!
BTW- Picture from Harwood Loomis @ M1911.ORG E-zine - Give them a look.

$8000.00 Big Bucks if you could get him to make another one.

I liked it well enough to ask.

I could buy just about all the other guns I lust after with that much ... Well it would make a dent.

There is a gun shop down in So Cal that will take a 1903 or 1908 and do some smithing on it to make it a practical CCW. I think there was and article on it in one of the gun mags a few years back.

Colt sold more 1911's than 1903's only due to military contracts; I alway scratched my head at that until until I shot one. It shot 1" groups with it at 10 yards and sub 3" at 25yrds. I have two WWI era 1911 that shoot no where near that well. A very cool little gun!

I admit I may have drooled just a little on that last issue of American Handgunner!

Oooo It even has an external ejector, hint, hint. Ya think S&W could like maybe make a cheaper hammerless .45?
Aw well probably be too hard for um to do anyway, ya know no incentive. Probably can't use it for action pistol competition or bulls eye, or another game. Limited market appeal = not worth the effort.
Oh well

I saw a video where the C&S guy was talking about it. Apparently he already has a buyer for gun #2 at $8k. Good for him.

Okie John

Looked in the ashtray in the pickup, and in the console, and under the seats, but didn't quite make it to $8K. More like 8 cents. Off to buy a lottery ticket with the $1 bill I found in the wallet...

One of a kinds are awfully expensive. Production models are less expensive.
This would require a new frame and slide to be truly safe[?] instead of brazing on an existing frame model and slide.

You know, if they scaled it down, and made it in .40, it would be even better. Something in between the full size .45 and the 1903.....

Yepper, old cousin Bill sure do makem nice 1903 modifications. I saw this one at the last Fremont,Nebraska gunshow he was at about 6-8 years ago. I want him to do some trigger tuning on my revolvers since I had to sell my last 3 semi-auto pistols because of health reasons. rz625-8

If someone would make them in stainless and blue and maybe a light weight version I think they would be great for CCW. They have very clean lines!

Well come to think of it a scalled down 1903 would be ok with me esp in a .22, & a .380, & a 9mm.

That's the extractor. The ejector is right where it should be, mounted on top of the frame. FWIW, I've tuned lots of 1911s, and have built a few. I've had to cure more extractor problems on ones with external extractors (proportionately) like S&Ws and some Kimbers, 10-1 over ones with internal extractors. The original design wasn't broke, didn't need fixing. Problems started cropping up when some makers used crappy steel in their extractors, when lame-brained shooters started dropping the slide on chambered rounds, and when reloaders started using brass for so long that the rims were beat to hell and much larger diameter. Having said that, I want one of these C&S guns badly, but not $8 grand worth of badly!!

Stop crying, you guys. Bill Laughridge (Cylinder & Slide) has two available for delivery: One is $2995 and one is $2495. That's a lot of money until you handle one and see the amount of handwork involved.
