The barrel would be easy. Making a cylinder is possible but it would be a time consuming labor of love

I really wish S&W would sell cylinders with just the stop notches, ratchets and only pilot holes instead of chambers. magnum length K frame cylinders with 6 pilots, L frames with 5 or 6, N with 6 or 7 and X with 5, 6 and 7.

I agree…I'd be a buyer if they produced an L in 41 mag. Well, actually never mind I forgot I don't buy guns with a lock.

"the lock" can easily become "the plug" in less than 10 minutes. I have small bag of plugs, and no guns with them.

Has anyone done any measurements to see how much cylinder wall would remain if a 6 shot L frame cylinder was reamed to 41 mag? Might work as they can crowd 7 357 into one. Probably a question of how much meat would be left at stop notch cut. If that would work you could install it in a model 69 frame and turn a .410 barrel into a liner to replace the 44 liner.

Only L frames I have are 44s, a 296, a 396 and a 69

A 41 chamber is about .434 and a 357 is .378 so you would loose about .023 of outer wall. There is plenty of outer wall without a stop notch as they make 5 shot 44 mags. The radius difference between a 41 and 44 case id .0115. Obviously the thickness between chambers wouldn't be a problem as there is enough to make 7 shot 357s

S&W sure could produce a 41 version however I do not think they will. As good as the 41 is it is not a high demand item. I cannot remember the last time I saw a 41 anything around here.

Yeah ... you is right , there is little / no love out there for the Rodney Dangerfield / Red-Headed Step Child of the gun industry ... The 41 Remington Magnum ... Going to be a hard sell !

But Dang it ... I would buy one ... I learned to love the 41 when I picked up a model 58 $&W in a trade in early 1980 and started casting bullets and reloading for it ... Oh My ... I had been missing out on a very versatile and effective ... not to mention accurate caliber an Awesome Round that gets no respect ... but it should !

Taurus made a medium frame 41 mag with 4 " barrel for a while. They dont last long when they come up for sale. At my age I am not in a big buying mode for new guns, but a smith 41 mag in a 69 size would surely be of interest

Thoughts along the same line, would love a Mod 69 in a 10mm.

The 10mm is obviously more popular currently than 41MAG.

Previously that was my thought too, then I'd ream it out to 10MAG. ;)

But I've since come of the opinion that the 41MAG is a better revolver cartridge than the 10MAG is.

It's not because the 10MAG is rimless or that it holds 5.9% less powder than the 41MAG.

It's because all common jacketed commercial .40/10mm bullets are made without cannelures, as you'd expect for an auto bullet.

Without that cannelure heavy magnum loads are subject to jump crimp. Also, when loaded with slow powders you don't get as good of a burn with only a taper crimp.

10mm pistols just out-perform 10mm revolvers too in my testing. (I've already converted my 4" M610 to 10MAG and converted my 4013 to 10AUTO & have done the testing.)

I'm going to hopelessly hope they make one in 41MAG. :p

The market is there. Ruger does not have any trouble selling .41 or 10mm revolvers.
In a "L" frame??? It's a natural fit.
S&W already built it! They just did not expand the possibilities.

I often thought of picking up a couple of spare 686 cylinders. Chamber in 10mm. Could also shoot .40S&W. Little extra weight but save wear on the titanium.

just sounds like a great combo. id like to see a ruger 41 mag carbine or a rossi 41 magnum with a 41 model 69!

Groo here
Would love a 41...
Ps the ruger Gp100 is about an L frame and you can get it in 10mm
6 shot.....{got a 3in!!!}
