REALLY would have liked a 3924 NL! Not that another model already produced wouldn't have done the job just as well, but it sure would have been cool!

What 3rd generation model do you wish S&W would have made?

Agreed. Blued one for me, please.

You'd think the hint would be taken when folks are selling modified grips like hotcakes for a gun that you produce...
Yep. :) And you reminded me of another special request: Blued/black 3rd Gen "value series" pistols with an upgraded finish on the slide. :o

And along that same line, how about an SDVE with a blued/black slide option?

Single stack 3Gs with the grip frame shape and metal back strap of the 39 series.... so you could use 39 style wood grips. An ASP without the crazy sights....... more of a....... IIRC ......... Trapper Scorpion????

My FrankinSmith ....... 6906 frame with a 915/5904 upper ..... reverse two tone

Oh ya.......how about

A whole lot more.....3" 19s

A NL13 and/or 65 with the LadySmith barrel profile!!!!

I could sit here all day making lists of what I wish S&W would have made, which is surprising since they seemingly made more models than anyone.

To be practical about it, I think they should have made a "full size" version of 457. Like a budget 4566. I think it would have sold very well for Smith. I would also take the 9mm equivalent of the 4040PD in DAO.

Yep, they sure did. :) Can you imagine how long this thread would be if 3rd Gens were limited to just 10 or 12 models? :D

I guess I'm one of those "satisfied with what I have" type of guys. I'm so happy with all (5) 3rd Gens that I can't even be greedy and wish for more!

OK, one thing. I'd like my 5906 and 4006 to have the Novak rear sight. Maybe some of them were made that way but mine have "winged" adjustable that I don't care too much for.

I wish I could have stopped at 5. ;) But then again, I'd probably have just blown my retirement money elsewhere. At least this way I've got something to show for it. :p

Same here... but I consider it a reason to keep on looking! :) Wouldn't it be nice to have one of each... fixed sights and adjustable? :D

Blow and Hookers................ you'd go out with a smile!!! :D

Always thought a 3G with a K-frame adjustable sight (Often done on Browning HPs) or even the old style 39 rear adjustable sight would look better than the one with 'bat ears"

Oh come on Bam!!! You know I'm way too old and frail for that! You trying to kill me??? :p

Okay, yeah. :o I'll admit it. ;) The "bat ears" (as you call them) aren't the coolest look. :o In terms of "what I wish S&W would have made", a better adjustable rear sight for 3rd Gens is high on the list. :D

I personally never cared for the wings protecting the rear sights with one exception. My 4506-1. To me, the 4506-1 looks better with the adjustable sights. And Vic Mackey agrees with me. ;)

On the other models, 3906, 5906, 5904 et al. they just look out of proportion to the rest of the gun. Regards 18DAI

While I don't like the overall look of the "winged" sights, it does serve to make a 5906 look more "tank-like," which is well-deserved description.

I'd sure like to be able to pick up a 3946/3943/3944. Other than a duty-size single stack 9mm DAO I can't think of any holes that I need filled. Maybe the same thing in .40, but I don't even know what the model numbers would be for something like that. There isn't a full size single stack .40 of any variation,.....is there?

The ones I would have liked to see the most would be some sort of 3913 variant with a stainless steel frame, and the 4040PD with a stainless steel frame. I also would have loved a Melonited 5906TSW with a 5" barrel and integral rail.

I wish they would have made Model 61 Escorts that worked all the time...

(I am batting 0 for 6 or 7 so far.)
