Reason to travel in a RV. Nothing surprises me now about any Interstate. Seems so many NO DRIVERS use interstates its better to use other routes. I-4 in Florida is a Prime example. No snow, just way to many No Driving Idiots.

That area, Fredericksburg, is a mess on a warm sunny day.

For sure. Driving to and from Florida on 95 been caught in a couple serious you shall wait situations in that general area.

One year being a well seasoned winter driver piloting a good set up full size 4X4 Blazer and some creative driving got me through the mess in a decent time.:)

Obviously no Boy Scouts were traveling on I95 in those images. Guess they didn't pack any brains when it comes to winter travel. I always have water, protein bars and a good blanket in the car. Oh and a little TP ;)

That mess reminds me of a snow storm in Winter of 60/61 where I was stuck overnite on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. We all got picked up by NYPD and returned the following day for our vehicles which had been towed off to the side of the roadway. Sat in an other guys car and drank beer with him. Such civility is long gone.

Drove on I-95 from Fredericksburg, VA, to NC Saturday, January 1, in a rainstorm of biblical proportions.

Vehicles were traveling at 20mph from Fredericksburg until the interstate bypass north of Richmond.

Was driving a very capable vehicle but it was more than a bit scary…no lie.

‘Course multiple knuckleheads were driving with hazard flashers ‘on’ which is illegal in VA. ‍♂️

Accounts report that in yesterday’s storm multiple people simply abandoned their vehicles in the travel lanes. That, of course, is far dumber than driving with hazards on.

Be safe.

When I lived in NYC in the 70s and 80s, I frequently drove 95 from NYC to Va where my parents lived. I've driven it infrequently since, south of DC only, but have noticed that the traffic increase in the years since is phenomenal.

I detest I-4. I drive from 95 in Palm Coast to I-4 to Haines City just south of Orlando.

I finally found I could take the 414 to 429 toll road and avoid everything Orlando and Disney. When I get back on 4 I only have to drive it a few miles to 27.

I'd drive down there every week to visit my mom during the winter. She just bought a place in Ormond Beach she closes on the 14th. Less than 30 minutes from my house. I can take 95 or US1.

I have over $100 on my transponder, but the only way I'll drive I-4 again is if I find a great deal on a gun that requires me too.

We’ll be in Davenport in 4 weeks visiting with old friends. I4 is our usual route, I wonder if the construction is still ongoing, or does it even matter?
We won’t be driving thru Orlando anywhere near rush hour.

Construction on I-4 will never end in ours or probably our children's life time.

Especially in any state that was a member of the confederacy. That snow would shut Arkansas down until at least July. I doubt if you would find a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk in the state again.
Apparently the disfunction affects the VA railroad operation as well. Our Amtrak branch from New Orleans to NYC, the Crescent, has been stuck because of fallen trees near Lynchburg VA for 32 hours. Reports are food and drink supplies have run out, and restrooms have malfunctioned.

I just read this hilarious statement from VDOT:
“If we plow anything less than two inches the plow blade will scrape against the pavement and damage the blade and possibly the road,” Glover said.
Good grief, it's time for some snow plow training for VDOT. Plows have these things called replaceable parts that contact the road surface.
