Hey CJW3 and Smith Crazy, you were both very helpful. I just want to pass this by you or anyone else, to cast bullets for my 455's i was looking at the RCBS - 1 cavity mould 265 gn, RN HB, Midway wants $116.00 . For the RCBS lube a matic 2 they want $170. Mould handles $41.00. Lube $4.39 tube (SPG ). As far as i can tell i would need a furnace ( any ideas )A top punch , I couldn't find info about the lead sizer die. Iam new to this casting, and until now i never hurd of a lubra sizer. Are the dies adjustable to get the desired diameter ? Can you see anything else i need ? looks like i will have to sell the cat.

You can shoot as cast if you have a way to lube the bullets. That is where tumble lube or pan lubing comes in. Very simple and no big cost factor.

The mould is a bit expensive, try a few other sites. If you want a luber sizer, and want to keep the cat, try ebay. They are on there all of the time.

The dies are not adjustable. The mould has to be capable of producing the size bullets you want. Alloy affects this more than most folks want to admit. Harder alloy casts bigger from the same mould as does softer alloy. That means that you need to add harder material to your wheel weights, tin is most common, Linotype is another metal that is added.

The bullets have to be at least .001" bigger than cylinder throat diameter in order to obturate and seal off the bore.

Do not buy lube from Midway. Do a search for "White Label Lube" on the web. They have the best and cheapest, something that doesn't usually go together, lube available. Their liquid xlox is what is used for tumble lubing and it works well. Messy, but works well.

Too much more to say than to put it in one post. Read the front of the manuals, especially the Lee, in the section that talks about casting. Good info there.

You are headed on the right track. Asking questions is not a bad thing.

Try shopping at Sinclair. They are a good company to deal with and they have better prices than Midway. A set of mold handles are $34 instead of $41. They also sell Lyman 2 cavity molds for $64. (not sure if they have what you're looking for though)
