We were supposed to get 3-5" of snow starting late last night till late today.
It was supposed to start out as snow then turn to freezing rain. Well so far got 1" of snow at my house and it has turned to freezing rain already . They were calling for a 1/2" of ice but we will see. I'd rather have a foot of snow than the ice. I'm off to the DPW to get some sand.

I'm with you here in CT. Grandkids upset that their snow day is a bust. Looks like nobody in CT has school today, though. Hope you don't get much ice in your neck of the woods and that the power stays on! Stay safe and warm [emoji3587][emoji3511][emoji3]

A 1/2" of ice will wipe out a lot of tree limbs! A lot of falling limbs will knock out a lot of electric! No electric means no heat. Looks like you have a baby boom coming next September!! Hope you like kids!

Ivan I love my 3 grandkids others are O/K if well behaved.;)
I'm all set if we loose power I have a generator set up that is ready to go.

The funny thing is just this morning at my favorite restaurant one of the girls said I hear you play Santa and was wondering if I could play Santa for some kids Friday night at one of the local volunteer fire departments.:)

Just think, nature is providing ice coated mint for your mint julep today. Be safe on those slippery walks.

I was supposed to be flying into NY yesterday morning, but Sunday I woke up with excruciating ear pain, and the MD said I can't fly until after the drugs are finished on Saturday.

So I'm stuck in .... Florida until then. Stay warm and safe guys.

Vee-Dub went into the shop Monday to fix the fender from when the deer hit me. Enterprise gave me a full-size rental, which was supposed to be an Altima or an Accord or something.

Kid shows up to pick me up...with a 2019 Dodge Challenger. "It's yours, if you want it," he says.

Challenger did not do too bad yesterday morning, just periodically when I tried to brake, it would remind me that it weighed 4000 pounds.

The roughest part was driving back to work for the afternoon, going up a hill I fishtailed a good 30 degrees while driving at perfectly level throttle, about 20mph. The way home was fine.

Well here is a update. We did get the 1/2" of ice .
I cleared the sidewalk twice and used 1 1/2 5 gal. bucket's of sand/salt on the sidewalk the driveway I did use some sand where people had to walk from there car's .
This morning I spread 4 more bucket's of sand/salt on about 1/2 of the driveway hopefully the car's will spread it around.

We had that storm here, I went out and slid down the walk, had to do a lot of scraping the windows on the truck. [emoji46]

I've only seen one ice storm in my lifetime and that was about 60 years ago. I remember all the slipping and sliding, no power, (we had gas heat then) and lots of trees and limbs falling. It was in early spring and one of the things that stuck in my mind was a bed of blooming daffodils encased in at least and inch of ice. I'll be 72 in a few days and chances are good I'll never see another in my lifetime. Plenty of tornadoes around though.

On Tuesday, I woke up at 4 AM and saw 1.5" of snow out the back door, So I got dressed and swept the snow off the steps and walkway to the garage. I open the Overhead door and the 40' wide parking and street are all but clear, I walk through the condo and look at the front street is also clear. I kiss the wife goodbye and I go back to bed! I go to leave at 0915 and my truck has a 1/4" of ice all over it! Nothing else has Ice, just my truck! Forget scraping, a gallon jug of warm water took care of the windshield and mirrors.

There isn't a teenager within half a mile of me or I would blame them for pranking me!

Ivan
