I'd like to know who I'm talking to

Newbie.... first post

I am a fifty year old that has owned guns & hunted my whole life. (never a hand gun) Love to fish, living in Michigan can"t help it. My whole life I thought I was big enough boy that I could take care of my self. Til 2 years ago when I took a horrible fall off roof. Now couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag. I have to tell you now I see how my wife has felt insecure (no pun intended) for years. We have a loaded shot gun in bedroom and always have, even when I raised my 4 daughters. they all learned gun safety at a young age. I spent countless hours being I have nothing better to do, due to constant pain I am in, figuring out what hand guns to buy for self deffence. Well we are proud owners of a S&W 380 body guard, a governor and a Glock 27. We are taking our cpl classes next week end. I think we can feel a little safer now.

I am turning 24 in a few months, from Europe and love the US.

I was honorably discharged from military after I got back from Afghanistan 2010. I moved to Germany because I made it into the Lufthansa Flight School. It was planned to conduct 3 months of flight training in Florida before going back to Europe but things changed. I really liked the way of life here in the US, I met a lot of very nice people, a very lovely girl... I decided to give it a shot as nothing was really holding me back in Europe as my parents were going through a divorce, my friends were scattered in different countries for their college studies.
I finished my pilot license in the US and got myself a type rating for a PC-12. I was flying that bird for some time but lost my job, got picked up by another company to get layed off again. As I have huge loans due to my flight training I needed a job with some security so I decided air traffic control would be the right thing for me. So currently I am enrolled in a CTI program, graduating next spring.
Unfortunately I am not an US Citizen yet so I can't work for the FAA but I am considering joining the US armed forces after graduation because I am missing a little bit the military way of life :D
I am looking forward to obtain my US citizenship, I promised myself to buy a flag and pole the same day I hold the blue passport in my hands :D

Free time is spent playing with old cars, shooting and reloading, cooking and traveling. Made it home so here's a pic

Very interesting, interesting topic. It started me thinking, thinking about why some of my friends gave me,to me the moniker of "Tony Two Times," Two Times. To this very day, day, I don't know why, know why they did that, did that. So I just go by the name of Bob, as in Bob's your uncle, uncle.

OK, I'll play. My name is Rick, I'm 66 years old, a retired ex-DJ, Iowa State Patrol dispatcher, Naval Security Group intelligence analyst, banker, and electronics CEO, amateur radio operator, banjo player, pilot and Ural sidecarist. Married for 45 years to the love of my life, 1 son, 2 grandsons. I look about like this...or at least I did 5 years ago when the pic was taken.

very amusing thread............

,,,,,,,,,Me, just an old feller who if he had only known he was going to live this long would have taken better care of himself.

Got a lot more to be thankful for than to whine about. I ain't purrty but I got a sweet, calm, purty wife. Ain't rich but have some great friends, a roof over my head, and a toy or two.Got to do some work things that I have really loved.

May have to eat canned dog food when I retire but at least my two best friends, my pups, will be right there chowing down with me.

Never been to Spain but I have sure seen some wonderous sights in this beatuful country. Got to experience more neat things in life than most folks have a right to and enjoyed most every minute even the ones that hurt.

Never in a million years would have dreamed I would have some very good friends I have never met. Why if I had gotten to drink some old Bushmills, and swap a gun or two, and some stories around a camp fire with em don't know if I could have stood the pleasure.

Never got to live in the West but when I die maybe my wife will mail a few of my ashes to general delivery out west somewhere.

Life is wonderful, and I have enjoyed it up to this point and look forward to the rest.

This bad cell picture is the most recent of me. It was taken 2 weeks ago at the retirement party of a friend from the Sheriff's Office. I'm the guy sitting.
I'm 59 years old and have been married to the same woman for 40 years in June. Met when we were 17 and married at 19. Retired from my dream job at the Sheriff's Office a few years ago. During my career I worked patrol, major crimes detective, sex crimes task force supervisor, public/media relations sgt., and a number of other functions. The only thing I loved and enjoyed more than the job was/is my family. I have two grown sons. The older a computer systems administrator and the younger a deputy sheriff. I have a seriously spoiled Boston Terrier named Beau.
Since retirement I have volunteered in local schools, developed a hobby in leatherwork making holsters, done some traveling in our motor home, done a lot more shooting, bought more S&W revolvers than I ever imagined, and recently began volunteering as a range officer in the indoor range where I'm a member.
I have back, neck, and shoulder problems that limit me physically at times (thus the sitting in the pic) but, all in all, I'm a lucky man.

Every time I see that picture of those two brothers I picture them showing up at my door and asking my mom, "can feralmerril come out and play?"

66 years old, live less than 15 miles from where my ancestors stepped out of the Mayflower and onto Plymouth Rock. Recently retired (finally), doing what I want.

Married 45 years, with 2 boys and 7 grand daughters, three of whom are old enough to be shooters and have their own guns.

Served 4 years in the Army. Have played with Model T Fords since I was 6. Have one brass Model T and 1 Model A roadster. The Roadster I restored during high school and took it to my Senior Prom in 1964.

Been collecting SW's and others for about 15 years.

Retired educator @ 66 yrs., actually an Artist and Musician. Amateur radio (General class ticket), Automobile and MC mechanic; play with and love guns.

My essence has to be a "man of God". Raised a Catholic, later found Yoga; not just stretching exercises, but Austerities (mental discipline) and a quest for Higher Consciousness. I meditate and pray daily.

Not going to tell anyone how to live...just that sometimes I can't understand why some are so devoid of Divine Love and Grace! "We need God in our lives." The method doesn't matter, same God all religions.

OK?

My name is Tony, no surprise. 64 years old. Firmly belive there are two type of people in the world. Italians, and those who want to be Italian.

Divorced for nearly 10 years after 32 years of marriage. One, nearly perfect, 33 year old, NRA Life Member (My father-in-law signed her up as an infant, before I became a Life Member) daughter, who lives in Portland, OR.

I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio but have lived in Memphis, TN since 1981. Close to retirement.

Learned to shoot in Boy Scouts. Mom didn't like guns, so I bought my first used Nylon 66 around 1967 over her objections.

Recently inherited my father's and grandfather's guns. Both of them! Total estimated value of $300 (Yes, they were that low quality, an old H&R and a Ruby.) Both showing pitting on the left side from being 'waistband carried' and never cleaned, by right handed doofuses.

I am in technical sales and am terminally curious by nature.

Got interested in Scotch whiskey about 8 years ago but my gun collection is larger than my Scotch collection. Recently spent $450 on 3 bottles, mainly out of curiosity. And if you think that is expensive, you should see what I brought home from the casino when I spent $450!

My last 6 months in the Army in were in Vietnam, way back in 1970.

My favorite gun is any 1911 variation. But I do admit to a strong attraction to S&W revolvers.

I love the S&W Forum and the great people who participate here. I am proud to associate with all of you.
