I narrowly escaped from Southern Kallyfunya a few years ago with my guns (unmelted), and landed on the shores of the Boise River in Idaho. There was no Statue of Liberty greeting me, but it felt just as good. Despite not having a visa, I settled in just fine.

Each time I visited a gun store, the sales people and the customers were really friendly and knowledgeable. However, I didn't really get a chance to chat well enough to make quick friendships. Also, I noticed that the emphasis
hereabouts is more on shooting and hunting, rather than collecting. In Los Angeles, the emphasis is different, because it is so hard to find places to shoot within a short distance.

I noticed that we have a number of people on this forum that are in Idaho and collect handguns. Would these people be interested in forming some sort of Idaho Gun Collectors Association? We already have about 7-8 SWCA members in the greater Boise area, but could use more people to make a larger club here, and have get-togethers, show-and-tells, etc. How about it?

I lived and worked in Idaho for nearly 10 years. I was born and raised in Washington state.
I believe Idaho already has a gun collector's society. I recall seeing booths at gun shows in Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston.
Check the internet.

I live outside Marsing and get into Boise once a week usually. My "collection" is nothing to rave about collector wise, I shoot my guns. I have quite a few of them in various conditions.

Ever go to Boise Gun? It's sort of my second home. If you do tell Gary to give you the Fred discount. (But don't insist on it, he raises the price just for me.)

Let me know if you want to get together.

I live up in northern Idaho and get to Boise once or twice a year. Usually, end up there under duress from the better half. All my guns are working tools.

But, I'm usually socialable, especially if the coffee is fresh ground and the subject is firearms and handguns in particular.

I live a bit further south than SWID, even if it's the same county. It's 153 miles into Boise so unless the VA insists I come to the hospital I just don't make it there very often any more.

You know how you fealt upon leaving California? Well that's sort of how I feal about going anywhere near Boise!!!! If I get north of the Snake River I break out in hives.

It's a toss up between Boise or Elko, NV for distance and Elko is still small enough I can at least stand to be there for more than an hour.

I'm tickled you like Boise and Idaho. Having been born and raised here (5th generation) we just sort of wished you had stayed home. ;-)
Oh well, at least you moved to Ada County.

There is a NEW up side. WE border the "New" Wilderness Area and once it's in place and closed off nobody else will be able to drive in to the ranch.

I grew up in Boise but escaped years ago. Visit 1-2x a year. Bittersweet memories (aren't they all?) Amazing metastasis of Orange County LA growth. Then again, it's nice to make it from Boise to Horseshoe Bend in 20 minutes instead of 3 hours like it used to take.

Used to work Ada/Canyon/Owyhee/Elmore counties. Love the Owyhee country.

I'd join a collector group there now, as I have more than one gun.
