The 2nd pic was the giveaway. Not many others looked like that ugly Edsel back then.
That's a "horse -collar' Ford. AKA Edsal.

So did the old logo say Edsel or Ranger ? I’d look at it a couple times a yr and it just never clicked.

It’s beyond any usefulness. Smashed and now rotted. Not even a useable part on it. I first saw it there in 2010. And at that time it was clear it had been there a very long time. It might make a good deer blind now that I think of it. Hmmmmm would it be illegal to shoot from that car ?

When I was 16 my buddy Tom had a '69, or maybe it was '59 Edsel 2dr sedan, 6cyl with three on the tree. About every 3-4 months we'd have to lay under it, pull the transmission and replace the first/reverse idler gear. Tom could never remember to come to a complete stop before he pulled the shifter back into first gear. We all had a name for that Edsel grill.

In 1957 I was sacking and stocking groceries at the McCartt’s Grocery Store at 10th and Taylor in Amarillo, Texas. McCartt’s sold to Safeway Grocery while I worked there. I made $.55 cents an hour at the time. I remember the Ford Dealer, Sid Stout I think, brought a new Edsel and put it on display for about a week on the grocery store corner for everyone to see. I thought it was about the ugliest car I had ever seen. As mentioned in the above posts, it looks like an Edsel Ranger to me too. I believe they had about 3 models available then. My how time flies.

I grew up working in My Dad's Texaco gas station from 1954 to 1964. You are right, I am an oldie.
Martha Stewart owns and drives a '58 Edsel station wagon.
The only good thing about an Edsel was the 410 engine.

An older friend had one with the big V8 engine back around 1960 or so. The Edsel was Ford's hotrod back then. He didn't have it very long as they were very troublesome cars. The Edsel was named after a Ford family member actually. Edsel Ford. His name will live in infamy 
I almost bought a 1959 Edsel Ranger back in college... 4 door 6 cylinder 3 on the tree... white with a red interior... was my best friends next door neighbors late aunts car.. it was clean, l9w mileage... my dad wouldn't let me park the thing within 3 blocks of the house... oh well...

Way back when one of our neighbors was a Ford Fanatic. He went out and bough a new Edsel convertible with the big V8 engine. The car was sort of fast but it made more noise than anything else.
In the ventricular of the day it was a pig, a typical big engined Ford way over carbureted and a very restrictive exhaust system.
He would step on it and the carb made LOUD noises sucking in air and the duel exhaust sounded like two vacuum cleaners going at full blast. Would blow the small street litter all over the place.
He had it about 9 months and said he could not afford the large amount of Hi-test gas it used!-

Back in the late '70s, there was a guy outside of Cheney, WA, who had a field full of Edsels in various condition. Must have been over 100. I read a few years ago he was finally trying to sell them off.
