Identify this old car please

Here's a little unknown factoid in regards to the '37 Chevrolet.
The original engineering design was to have the side hood louvers slanted rearward with the chrome molding along the top. The die maker misread the blueprint and stamped the louvers back wards/upside down.

My buddy with the '37 Cabriolet modified his side hood to the correct engineering design.

Note the difference.

Wasn't this the era when this years Delux Model was recycled as next years Standard Model? So the 37 Delux became the 38 Standard.

I go with 1938 chevy. I owned a 1937 and the grille is different.

Yeah, it's a '38 Chevy, just google 1938 Chevys and you'll see the big difference between the '37 and '38s grills and sides of the hood.

Tis! Tis not! Tis! I owned a 46 chev, got looking at some pictures and couldnt tell it from a 42 model just before they quit for the war.
There was three hermits that lived in a cave. One day a knight came rideing by. A week later one said that was a pretty white horse. About a week later the secound hermit said, no, that was a black horse. About two weeks later the thrid hermit got up and said he was leaving as he couldnt stand the constant bickering!

Egad! You're right! The 38 Chevy pictures came up on a Google search and I didn't bother to look at any of the other site pages. Wonder why they love our cars but not us...:(

Thanks for all your guesses and all of your "DEFINITIVE" answers. That would put my Granpa in the 48-50 range I'm guessing. I blew up a little 2X3 picture to an 8X10 and framed it to give to my dad today. Just wanted to be able to give him a good guess as to when it was taken. You boys have been of the greatest assistance (as usuall)

thanks,
Lee
