Identifying year of manufacture

Howdy folks,
Recently acquired a Model 60-4 .38 and trying to ascertain when it was manufactured. Reads BSA 8997 and elsewhere what appears to be a 1 - 029.
Any help is appreciated.

If I am guessing I would say middle 1994 to maybe early 1995.

However, you can call or e-mail S&W for a more definitive date.

Why does S&W make it so difficult to find serial number and date information for their guns, I seem to remember being able to find the information pretty easily on line, I've been trying all afternoon with no luck at all looking for any info on my S&W mod. 60-3" .357 mag. revolver ?
