The Blue Grass Sportsman League Blue Grass Sportsmens League is having their monthly IDPA match this Saturday.

Match registration will be open from 9:00 until 10:00 AM in Pistol Pit #1.

New shooter registration will be open from 8:45 AM until 9:00 AM; new shooters must be there no later than 9:00 AM for the new shooter check.

The match starts at 10:30 AM.

If you are a member you will need to use your gate card to open the gate.

If you are not a BGSL member, simply use the key pad at the gate to call the number displayed on the sign for Pistol (006) and whoever has the Pistol phone will use it to remotely open the gate after you state that you are there for the IDPA match.

The Pistol phone will be answered from 8:45 AM until 10:00 AM on Saturday.

Breaking news!

Following the IDPA match this Saturday (around 2 p.m.) there will be a Shotgun Side Match. All proceeds from this side match will go directly to the Pistol Club's pit expansion fund. The bulldozer is already at work expanding Bay 1 in Pit 1. This improvement will open the possibilities for some great new stage designs. But earth moving is expensive, especially when rock in encountered. So we decided to see if we can raise a little extra money and have some fun at the same time.

Let's find out who is the best defensive shotgunner in Kentucky. Invite all your friends!

If you can't make the IDPA match, just show up by 2:00 p.m. to shoot the side match. If you want to participate but don't have a suitable shotgun, just bring some factory-loaded shells and I am sure someone will lend you a shotgun to use.

Side match details:

Entry fee = $5 per entry; enter as many times as desired.
Nine shots required. Shot size must be no larger than #6. Bird shot will be fine.

Targets will be the Texas Star and 4 Pepper Poppers. They may be engaged in any order.

There will be a division for any shotgun you may have. Competitor may start with a maximum of 5 shells loaded. Reloads may be performed as desired or needed after the start signal. Reloads may be stowed anywhere desired, but may not be in either hand while firing.

Start position will be: muzzle pointed downrange, safety on, finger out of the trigger-guard, butt of the shotgun touching the shooter's belt..
Prizes will be bragging rights and the knowledge that you are directly helping improve our shooting facility.

There will be 5 categories recognized in the results posting:
Open = any shotgun, any accessory, any sights, any gauge. This is the only division that may use electronic or optical sights, compensators or speed-loaders.
Heavy Autoloader = 12 gauge or 16 gauge
Heavy Pump = 12 gauge or 16 gauge
Light Autoloader = 20 gauge or smaller
Light Pump = 20 gauge or smaller

Didn't realize Jessamine Co. had an active I.D.P.A. group. Do you shoot every month? Though I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I get to Wilmore at least once a year (usually in December). Have to be there in mid-August this year. Maybe I'll bring an iron along so I can play!

"Didn't realize Jessamine Co. had an active I.D.P.A. group."

They have more shooters than any club in the state.

Hello Peter, we shoot year round. The only time we cancel a match is because of dangerous travel conditions.

We had a Steel match last winter (I slept in. <g>), when the temperature was 8 degrees.

You can always check out our calendar WebCalendar. Right now, there are three matches shown for December.

I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Stay Safe,

A.T.

I plan to join the Bluegrass Sportsman League this August

I am looking forward to joining, and getting involved in the Enhanced Service Revolver Division of the IDPA as soon as I get a 4 inch Model 29! The BSL does have the E.S.R category right? Anyway, I just wanted to make sure, as I am getting my cylinder modified to accept full moon clips regardless of the club offering E.S.R.
