Dave,
Now that this thread has been reopened, I went back and reread the whole thing as well as the original from April. (See my PM from earlier today.) Anyway, something that hadn't occurred to me before has struggled to the surface of my swampy frog brain... what about the top rib of the barrel? Is is checkered like the 357 frame (I assume it must be) and how did that happen? Did you checker it, did S&W ever make a 44 barrel with a checkered rib? Que pasa? After looking at all the pictures yet another time, I am more impressed than ever with what a magnificent finished product you have there. Que maravilloso!

Yes, I did checker the top of the barrel rib aliken the original design.

As I am not a purist or much of a collector...I am a user of such equipment.
And enjoy my lit'l past time as much as any man.
While casting about for the perfect specimen for this project...I realized, it was right before me.
I had pick this revolver up a year or two before and there it was....
Having been back to the factory for a so-so re-blue and a nose job, made it jest right for this lit'l deal.
Found an new-old stock 4" 44 Special barrel & a proper cylinder for re-chambering (all this to preserve the original barrel and cylinder)
While I was at it, I snip'd the original barrel back to 4" and had it all bright nickeled.
this revolver was not meant to be a 'safe queen' or anything else, other that a handy sidearm.
I got her holstered up and sportin it as I type this...Fixin to crank the pickup and cruise the back 40.
In closing, all sentiment's toward the fact that I chose this particular platform for this custom build,
cause I liked er purty good my own self.

Thank you Charlie for all your kind words of encouragement.
All My Best,
Dave
