It's like at Cabelas where people will tear into boxes of ammo just to look at the rounds... and then put them back on the shelf. Some of them even pocket some of the ammo, leaving boxes short.

I'll be the first to admit I have done this...and will continue to do so. My reasons for this are simple; make sure the rounds are there and that the caliber/type are the same as on the box.

I found some ammo on sale for both 45 ACP and 9mm. I bought several boxes of 45 and found 9mm rounds instead. Luckily, I have a pistol that uses 9mm. But still....

I spend a lot of time in HD and have never had any problem.The employees I have dealt with always know where whatever I am looking for is located and are very nice and friendly.

Neither HD nor Lowes are really "hardware stores" and, if I need something "hardwarey/hardwarie" I just go to one of the several ACE stores near my home.

There are three ACE, two HD and two Lowes within 10 minutes or less from the house, but I think first of HD since, in my experience, they are the cheapest.

If I doubt HD will have it, then I pick one of the ACE stores.

I'd have to be pretty desperate to utilize Lowes for anything.

I bought 3 trees from Lowes once and it was late in the evening and I couldn't see them very well. I got home and they looked really dry so I watered them and the next morning went to plant them and in better light it was obvious they were quite dead. Took them back to Lowes and they said there is no return or refund on trees that were on sale. I said they weren't even marked down much and I'm out $165 and I want to see the manager. The manager came out and said the same thing and I said there was no sign that said trees couldn't be returned and he said "I know but there should have been". I talked and yelled a bit longer but he wouldn't even consider taking them back so I then walked away and that was many years ago. Every time I buy landscaping from them I think about taking a tree or two to get some of my $165 back but never do it.

Loew's knows and HD blows...

For years both HD and Loew's gave veterans a 10% discount on everything with no hassel whatsoever. Just show some identification, in my case my a photo VA ID. No big deal on the small day to day purchases but on the bigger ticket items it really adds up.

Now HD says no way, only a discount for retired or disabled vets. OK by me if that is their "new" policy but they have the audacity to tell me they never gave the discount to all veterans... don't know why they are lying and from numerous internet discussions their policies do vary from store to store which makes no sense whatsoever but if they can't get their story straight and feel the need to lie to veterans then they will get no more of my business.

I've spent over $8,000 (carpet - twice, appliances and tools}, at Loew's in the last year even though HD is closer {they get none of my business}.

I purchased a "new in the box" tv a few years ago from an electronics store. Got it home and found it had been returned. It was missing parts and the manual. How did I know? I found a small piece of Christmas wrapping paper still on the box. Returned it. They acted like it was no big deal.

Home Depot stores and signs are orange in color where Lowes are blue.

My question is those buy online mattresses they are advertising, try it for 90 days, don't like it, send it back. Don't think I'd even buy a new one, how do you know the one you buy is 'truly' new?

Most of the companies have a 100 night return policy, but they don't require you to return the mattress. Tuft & Needle, Leesa, Lull and others help you find a local charity to donate the mattress to, send them a copy of the receipt, and they send you a full refund. We just bought one from Tuft & Needle, that is their policy. You'd never be able to get that mattress back in the box anyway. With over 10,000 positive reviews on Amazon and other places we decided to take the chance.

I have found the same thing at Cabela's and Gander Mtn. It seems that there is a "thing" with kids I presume, to steal rounds from the boxes. When I get to the register I ask the clerk to check each box for missing rounds. I have found this three times...two at Cabela's one at GM. If they would refuse to check the boxes I wouldn't buy them.
