My check went in the mail Wednesday. snw19_357 was gracious to refer me.
Bob,($60 for first year and $40 each year thereafter); if you had joined in December, you would have gotten one month for your first year's dues,
For not much more than the cost of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson.. It's like having the book come alive!!..
This is NOT an organization dedicated only to the serious collector as some think, but an extension to learn about our hobby/passion from a knowledge base that is unmatched..
If you are even remotely interested.. whether you just bought your first Smith or own a hundred Smith's.. all are welcome...
Anybody who would like to be sponsored and would be willing to chat for a bit via phone, send me a PM here. We do not do background checks but we do like to get a feel for our prospective members.
So... Last night I asked my lovley bride if she would please take care of renewing my yearly membership to the SWCA......, "write the check and drop it in the mail please"... No problem said she....
She just called and said.....
You know this is silly.... " A Yearly Membership".......
"Why not renew for FIVE YEARS and save $50.00"... Ya gotta love a thrifty wife..

Folks.... One Year Or Five.. it does not matter.. you will not go wrong by joining![]()
I'd like to join but I'm in the same boat as others. I live in the boonies, I don't know a member to sponser, nor do I have I used the same FFL dealer who's known me for over 5 years,
But really I'm a good guy and have lots of S&Ws.
You must also realize that since we are dealing with firearms, that some qualifying must take place. We openly discuss our collections, sometimes referring to serial numbers and this information is not the kind that you might disclose to any stranger off the street.

retarmy,
A couple of questions please. 1) have you ever applied for membership in the SWCA? 2) if so, what "troubles" have you experienced?
Feel free to PM if you desire.
Bob
You are quite right that the average Thompson exceeds the average S&W in value (Thanks, primarily to Uncle Sam's regulations!). However, with membership in the SWCA, an individual is given the opportunity for free access to an annual meeting where millions of dollars of museum grade collectibles are available.
