686 Pro

Hi, I just bought a 686 pro about 2 weeks ago and am delighted to say that I enjoy everything about it, except that the trigger is a little stiffer than I thought it would be. Using a Lyman electronic gauge I ran an average of 4lbs 11oz (6 pulls) for SA, but the DA was off the 12 lb scale. l'm hoping that with use this will come down with use, if not I may be looking for a trigger job.
However, in spite of the heavy DA pull, the 686 performed flawlessly at the range at 10 and 15 yards, holding 3" to 4" groups, which are OK for me!
It's a keeper.

8 3/8" .500. Love it, great trigger and very accurate. When i have the extra funds (before november deer gun season) i will be mounting up a scope.

627 PC 5"

Just got a 627 Pc 5" off gunbroker in metal case with moon clips and 2 set of grips and all paper work..hardly fired. Envelope the empty test cartridge is in is dated 11/2003....gun shoots like a dream..can I date it from the sn.?

686-6+ 3" barrel. last April. First handgun, first revolver. Love it. First half dozen times at the range I shot mostly .38 spl. Now nothing but .357 and man, do I dig it =)

Bought a brand new S&W 586 this past June. I've only put a little over 100 rounds through it but so far it is accurate, smooth, and has great fit and finish. The polishing and bluing is deep and flawless. I need to get more rounds through it but I'm really satisfied despite some initial worry over the internet chatter about IL S&Ws. I plan on picking up a few more new guns from Smith and Wesson. Sorry about the poor lighting in the photo.

New 627 Pro Series crowns a bit rough but it shoots perfect and everything else if perfect.

Just got my new 442-2 on Halloween that was ordered in July. First new Smith in over 25 years. Round count only 50 so far but no issues and am pleased so far. BTW it does have the lock, but I don't worry about it. Leaving for the range in an hour to shoot it and my M60 no dash that just came back from our retired S&W armorer that had to have a barrel/cylinder gap issue resolved. One of these days I must learn how to post pictures....

In the past year, I bought a NIB M642, and traded a a NIB Ruger LC9 to get back an old friend, a 2 1/2 inch M66-3 that I bought in 1990 and sold in a moment of mental impairment back in 2010. Both revolvers work flawlessly.

I removed the flag in the IL M642 and replaced the springs and firing pin with an Apex Tactical Spring Kit, which smoothed out the trigger pull to 9 lbs. The M66-3 had a heavy trigger pull because it was never shot much, so I used snap caps to dry fire a couple thousand dummy rounds, which smoothed out the action considerably. I refinished its original magna grips with 0000 steel wool and used tongue oil to bring them back to life. It's like new, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I won't be selling it again.

Bought a 586-4 Target Champion late September. Been practicing with it a bit and competed in a small hobby tournament end of November and managed to get 3rd place.
Until September, I never ever looked a second time at revolvers but this beauty grew on me immediately and now I'm a huge revolver fan.
It just...fits.

Next step is a LPA sight, a lighter recoil spring and some trimming on the Nill-grip.

About a month ago I got a 442-1. After 200 rounds and 1500 dry-fires I took it apart to find a lot of fine aluminium dust on and around the hammer. There were also what had to be broken off burrs from the milling process in the firing pin hole and in the small pocket above the firing pin. I cleaned it out and did a proper trigger job, lighter return spring and full polish; now the trigger is smooth as glass though still on the heavy side... perfect for a daily carry piece.

Though I am very happy with it as it now sits, I am somewhat disappointed with the QC as it came out of the factory. I can see the aluminium dust being generated during initial break in but the tailings/loose burrs I found in the action should have been removed before assembly.
