If You Could Have any 3 Inch Revolver…What Would You Choose?

I'd pick one of mine...

3" S&W 629-1
Rugers in GP100 and Speed Six format
S&W 3 inch LadySmith 65
or my S&W 625-3 3" .45 ACP (next to my 640 .38)

Hey all.

I’m pretty sure we all love 3-inch revolvers. I have a m65-5 that is a police trade in that picked up about 15 or so years ago. It’s my only 3-inch.

I’ve been checking out pics and specs of other 3 inch revolvers to see what other models are out there that I wouldn’t mind having. I thought I’d post a thread and get others to post their choices too.

The ground rules are that you can choose a 3-inch revolver from ANY manufacturer.

With that out of the way, I think my pick would be:

1. Colt Python
2. S&W Model 13 Performance Center.
3. S&W Model 586 L-Comp.

I couldn’t narrow it down to just 1.

What would pick if you could have any one you wanted and why?

Thank you for your time.
BD

Mine would be a 2 3/4" Ruger Speed Six (round butt) in 357. They're indestructible, and as accurate as any.

I have a Python, M19 carry comp and a 686 deluxe talo edition. I’d take the 686 absolutely. Best shooting for me, easiest to clean and durable finish. Also the cheapest. I think I’m going to sell the Python, had 2 issues with it already and I don’t trust it to carry it anymore.

I have the excellent 60-4 and the 63-5 8-shot .22lr.
I would like a 3" K-frame Model 64 RB.

I would love to own a 3” 625 and have been looking for one on and off for some time now. Unfortunately with the way prices are going I’ll probably never own one now, But who knows. I’ve been known to get lucky in the past.

This

With these in it

My 696 no- loaded with a big, soft 250gr hollowpoint pushed by 8gr of PowerPistol.

Hahahah! Now that is what I'm talkin' about! What a beautiful piece in my favorite caliber... The .44Special is a Fantastical Beast but refined at the same time! Your M696 is truly BEAUTIFUL and those grips add something else of refinement as well.

I'd picture my M624 LHS with Goncalo Alves but my hosting site isn't playing well with others at the moment. I tried for almost a year to get a decent M696 in 3" and a year before that in my 2nd favorite caliber an M625 in 3" before discovering a lovely M629-3 LHS in another caliber obsession of near perfect performance as well... The .44Magnum... .44Special and .45ACP's big brother is the "Bruiser Of Choice" when going heavy for sure. But 95% of the time the .44Special is the answer... Thanks for posting.

Two Words... Estate Sale(s)... Hit em' first and hit em' hard! You'll find one or many other's you haven't even thought of but will be a treasure when you do find a vintage Smith...

While there are plenty of .357s I fancy like the M65 Ladysmith, CS-1 and Colt Python. I have taken a bigger fancy to the 625-7 in .45 Colt.

Here's the pic that got me hooked from one of our members. ;)

3" I'd like to have:

1. Ruger Speed Six
2. S&W M-65
3. Ruger LCRx

Geoff
Who wants them all in .357, but will shoot mostly .38 special.

I love these two 3" revolvers; even know they are made by Taurus. Too bad S&W didn't make them like this.
The one on the left is a model 65 in .357 mag. I have had it for about 30 years and put some miles on it.
The other is a model 425 Tracker in .41 mag. Because the 41 mag is a 5 shot revolver, they both fit in the same holster. :D
