If you could only have 5 firearms

S&W 686+ 4in
S&W 629 4in
1911
Pre 64 Winchester 30-06
Remington 870

A Ruger 10/22
A Browning BL22
A Remington 700 in .270 or .280
A Remington, Ithaca, Benelli, Pump 12 gauge
A model 27 or 28 S&W with 4" bbl

I could do just fine anywhere in N. America with
these. If i needed to travel to Africa my list would
of course change.

Chuck

M1A Scout with Red dot
Ithaca 37 police
Smith 442
Browning Hi-Power
A .22 of some kind...can't decide on a rifle or handgun...have a 39A and a Smith 17...would be hard pressed to choose.

I'll play!!

In order of necessity as I see it:

1. Ruger 10/22
2. S&W 3913
3. Remington 870
4. M&P AR15

For number 5 I think it's just an extra gun, as the first four cover all I could ever need. So my fifth gun would be probably a .45 just in case that's the only ammo I can find.

1. Easy and cheap .22 that I can carry a couple thousand rounds easily.
2. Easy to carry ultra dependable sidearm.
3. Shotgun for birds and protection.
4. Rifle for long distance and an extremely common round.
5. Back up sidearm in a different caliber.

My Rock River 5.56 American sporting rifle.
My Springfield Armory 45 acp.
Ruger 10-22 or a Ruger mini 14
A 12 gauge pump shoot gun.
My S&W 686 4" barrel.

As an older American with bad shoulders and arthritic hands I would probably go with 3. the 686, the 12 gauge and the Rock River.

Well...definitely a .22 rifle of some sort...either my Ruger 10-22 or my Ruger M7722. Leaning more towards the 10-22.

Then, I'd want a good, accurate .22 pistol along with it...probably my Ruger Mk II.

I'd want a good, large-caliber handgun. Probably one of my single-actions in .45 Colt. Tough, heavy-duty, and not too much that can go wrong.

I'd also take one of my lever actions in the same caliber...most likely my Rossi 16-inch model 92.

Finally, either my Ithaca Model 37 or my Remington 870...both with 19-inch barrels.

Of course, the nice thing about hypotheticals is that you can change your mind whenever you want. :D

I like these games when I already own what I'd pick, although I don't really like thinking about weeding the rest out.

1. 2.5" 19-5
2. 6" 629-4
3. Browning Hi-Power
4. Browning BL22
5. Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 Gauge w/ extra barrel

Put another way, which 5 that you currently have "on hand".

-Remington Model 550-1
-Winchester 1200 Riot
-SW 3" 625 - .45 Colt
-Alaskan Co-Pilot (compliments of Wild West Guns) in .457 WWM.
-3.25", pre-lock SW Model 337-1. (consider strike through and insert) Charter Arms, stainless, 3", bobbed hammer, magna-ported .44spl.

My lightly tweaked Colt Series 70 with night sights, cal 45 ACP.
My S&W 638 for backup or pocket carry.
My M1A, good general purpose rifle.
My Browning T-Bolt 22 with 4X scope. Quality 22, very accurate.
My S&W Model 41, best target pistol in the world.

I don' have much use for shotguns: can't hit anything with them.

If I could have a couple more they would be:
The Winchester pre 64 Model 70 with 4X Weaver that I foolishly let go some years ago.
A Darne double rifle. Probably the 8X57JR caliber would be more useful than the 375 H&H (both are stock chamberings). Well, I can dream, can't I.
