If you could only have 5 firearms

I'm actually pretty happy with what I own. In addition to my Ruger LCR 38, M&P 9, Desert Eagle Mirco and Mossy 20 guage, I'd add.....

a 1911! Probably a Smith G

Well, I say go first class or go home.
M1 Thompson
.450NE H&H sidelock double rifle
870 Wingmaster with 3 barrels
RM #1
My Colt .45 Series 70 Gov't
........WAIT A MINUTE! That's not enough!!!!

Seems like all our great minds are thinking alike here.... ;)

We all want a shotgun, a small .22 rifle, a long range bigger rifle, and a good sidearm.

I'm going to start a new thread along this line of thinking....

.

If I could only have 5 they would have to be interesting.

The first two would be Registered Magnums, Ol' Number 1 and the special order example that was made in 22 LR.

Next would be Sgt Yorks 1911 that he carried in France in the first Big One.

Fourth would be the air rifle from the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Last would be the S&W Victory my dad carried in the Pacific during WW2.

I was choosing 5 firearms from those I used to own before the horrid boating accident/sinkhole incident. If we get to pick whatever we like the best, I'm changing my picks!

Let's see, a Purdey something, then a Grade 5 Browning this or that, an Ed Brown 45, a Kimber or Cooper........this might take awhile!

It is very interesting to note that I did not see anyone choosing any of the M&P semi-auto's, though other S&W's were indicates. Why's that?

There were a couple that put the M&P in there, but I'm not surprised it's not on the top of most lists. It's a good gun, but there are better. For me, the 1911 is a better choice. I shoot it better.

That doesn't mean my M&P is for sale. ;)

1. Remington 870 12ga. (versatile pump shotgun)
2. Remington 740 30-06 (long-range/game semi-auto rifle)
3. Remington Nylon .22 (light-weight, accurate semi-auto .22)
4. Colt 1911 .45 (reliable handgun)
5. FS M&P with 9/40/357 barrels/mags (to shoot whatever ammo I find)

First off, this is a very hypothetical question. If I were allowed to own only 5 firearms, I'd move to a different venue. I value my freedom.

But given the hypothetical premise, here would be my choices:

1. A scoped Winchester Model 75 sporter - .22 LR.
2. A scoped pre-'64 Model 70 Winchester - .30-06
3. An M4 carbine with Aimpoint sight - .223
4. A 1911 pistol that's 100% reliable - .45 ACP
5. A Smith & Wesson .357 magnum revolver - probably a Model 28 or a Model 66.

.45 ACP S&W model 22-4 with my hundred loaded moonclips
.223 Ruger Mini-14
.45 ACP S&W E-series 1911
.357 Magnum model 627 PC
12 GA Mossberg Persuader 8+1 capacity

This thread is funny. I know it's all hypothetical nonsense, and good, clean fun. But man, some of y'all have some real odd, funky tastes in firearms. That's OK, I still luv ya.

I also assume the weapons would be for a survival situation Food gathering, personal protection etc etc. That being said here are my choices..

1) Rem 870 12 ga with 18" bbl and a 28" bbl
2) Remington 700 .338 Winchester Mag
3) Ruger single six 22 long rifle with interchangeable cylinders
4) M&P 9 full size
5) Colt M4 Commando w/ACOG scope

Hypothetically:

10/22 Takedown with a YHM suppressor
Glock 17 with Advantage Arms .22 LR kit, probably another can
Remington 887 Tactical 12 Gauge
S&W 627 Pro Series, .357 Magnum

Fifth, I'm not sure. One of these though:
Ruger SR-22 with suppressor
CORE 15 M4, with .22 LR kit
Ruger Gunsite Scout in .308
My beloved Ruger Mk II Target

Since my wife would only want three, I would use two of her choice too!

Cool, I can buy 2-3 more guns! Sweet!

Do most of you list guns you already own, or is this your "wish list?"

I already own mine. And if I had to cut down to only 5 I'd have to sell a LOT of guns. I can honestly say that I don't know how many I currently own. :o
