If you could only have 5 firearms

Well If this is a life or death situation, I would keep

10/22 bull barrel, 4x10/40 scope
M&P15OR, Eotech scoped
Sig p226 9mm
sig 1911 stainless .45
for the weekends model 66 4" .357 in stainless.:D

Now for fun,
3-M&P15's variety of scopes
2-sig 1911 .45:eek:

Hmm. Choose 5. I ride with Charlton Heston on this one, when you pry my cold demised fingers off the bbl process.

Now if I were to retire and have to thin the herd due to having a smaller gun safe, I'd buy a bigger safe.

Why 5? I have some Model 12 Winchester shotguns that can do it all, squirrels to big things. Up close that is, so I need to pack one of my pre 64 Model 70's in 270 WIN, I'll choose Dad's over the others. I think my 22 Masterpiece and a scoped Marlin Model 25 that I glass bedded and worked on will cover 99% of my shooting.

Let's see that is 4 guns, NUMBER 5 COME ON DOWN!!!!! Why it is my Colt AR 15. It was the successful applicant for my job want ad, strong alert home security guard wanted.

Must be reliable without fault, may have to work long hours and be out in the weather for extended times.

You will manage a work shop of more than 4 guns, you will have a SIG 40, 2 1911's, shotguns, potent rifles and a bunch of SW revolvers in your group. The successful applicant is to supply it's own ammo.

Well I can dream can't I? Isn't that what this thread is all about?

Cabelas did get in some 420 round boxes of 5.56 last week (no dream) and the Colt made me pay for the whole thing....

In no particular order:

-Ruger 10/22
-Rem 700 (270 or 308 -preferably 308, I think.)
-AR-15 (223/556)
-Glock 19/17 or 22/23 (while I would prefer the .40, if it were my only handgun - probably 9mm due to availability and price of ammo)
-12 ga pump (Moss 500/Rem 870/Ithaca 37 or similar of good quality)

Eight would be better: adding .357/38 revolver, 22LR pistol, 30-30 lever gun.

There are so many ways to pose this question, but I'll go with 5 currently in my safe/closet:

4" 24-3
6" 17-3
Three-screw Blackhawk .357/9mm
SKB 500 12 gauge OU
Sporterized 98 Mauser .270 Win. I pick that over 4 other CF rifles since Mausers can be made into switch-barrels and the sweet Timmney trigger, plus it was my Dad's.

Hmm, after taking inventory, I see some holes and need:
An adult .22 RF rifle.
A .357 DA (S&W, of course!).

I am surprised at the number of Ithaca M37s listed. That was my first 12 gauge/repeater some 40 years ago. I had it threaded for choke tubes back in the 80s and still have it.

For myself:
- 870 w/ 3 barrels.
- 10/22 DSP
- Norinco SKS
- 629 Classic DX
- Marlin 1894 .44 mag.

For the missus (if it were it up to me to choose from her stash):
- Springfield 1911
- Marlin Camp .45
- 10/22 Standard
- Ruger MKII
- Norinco SKS
