If you had to pick just one section here on the forum?

Bye.

Still childish question. I'm gone........................at least for a while..............

S&W Hand Ejectors 1896-1961, cause that's where the RM pictures appear.....and I enjoy beating my head on the table.

There are dozens of subjects on any given forum and you will not get a consensus of "If you could only have one....so why ask?

How about asking which portion of the forum is your favorite?
Much more adult..................

Am I missing something, or would that be no more likely to produce consensus than the "If you could only, etc." format?

Different ways of asking the same question, and likely to produce the same result..

My own favorite is "What if there were no hypotheticals?"

I had to think about this for a while. Tough choice!

Before I joined, I lurked for a year or so, in the Concealed Carry mostly.

It wasn't until after I joined that I realized the collective knowledge and wisdom found here is unequaled anywhere else. Mainly on S&W, which I found out that I really knew nothing about, but also on any other firearm ever made. I've yet to see a gun asked about here that someone, and usually more than one, wasn't knowledgeable about. Or any other subject, for that matter.

So, considering that, I'd go with Other Guns and Knives. I could still discuss the BHP, Colt, Winchester, you name it. I'd have to rely solely on The Standard Catalog for details (which is what we have it for anyway), but it would be a trade off I could live with.

I spend most of my time...

I spend most of the time in the Lounge, Newer Revolvers, Semi Pistols and a lot of time the Reloading forum.

Lesser in the Concealed Carry and revolvers before 1980. Lately a little time in the 'other brands' because I bought a pistol that was an 'other brand'.

I visit the M&P section first, I'll glance at the Lounge to see if there's anything interesting, then I go to Reloading. I do it in this order because that's the way they appear from top to bottom.

Have 'fired' your first primer yet with your loader?

As a matter of fact, I did! My ears rang for hours!

This led to me acquiring a RCBS Partner single stage press, then followed with a Lee Classic Turret press, and now, thoughts are turning towards the blue painted equipment...

All, of course, in the quest of "saving money"...:D

I spend more time in the lounge but I'm most impressed with the changes in the classifieds. Lee and the mods have done a great job of removing the chitchat and making the classifieds an efficient source of information on current values as well as a pretty good honeyhole to either buy or sell.

For all your reading and replying on the forum, if you could only pick one section -- 1961-1980, The Lounge, Guns for Sale, etc. -- which would you choose?

Your question is flawed, since it puts only three sections in the readers mind and all answers seem to be one of those three without regard to the "etc". There are many more sections to choose from.

For me it is a toss-up between the S&W Antiques & the S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961, which are the most significant sections for company history, plus the history and development of the revolver.

For the real answer, you simply need to check the statistics to find that The Lounge is a run-away favorite, followed by 1980-Present, 1961-1980, and 1896-1961

I guess my favorite is the reloading section. I have only been reloading for about 40 years but there are seasoned re-loaders and instructors that always have some input. I also really enjoy the concealed carry section.

It's The Lounge, not the Scientific Method forum; also, I put greater faith than you do in the ability of fellow members to note and understand what "etc." means. Too, it's odd for you to say that all answers seem to be from the three ones listed since many answers are from the "etc." option (Antiques; '61-'80; Reloading), and thus far none from Guns For Sale.

Picking nits means having to pick them well. ;)

You're mistaken, since the statistics only show what members choose most when all options are always available to them, not when the choice can only be made once. At best there's an extrapolative indication there, which by the scientific rigor you prefer would never pass muster as the "real answer" until tested under the conditions of actually having only one choice to make.

Sorry for my input. However, I find these types of "questions" a little on the junior high school level: If you could only one super hero? Get it.............
Got it. So what grade level is it to jump into a thread you don't like or want to participate in only to shout "DUMB". ;)

It's interesting to know what people like most and why; when options are limited, what's essential comes into greater relief. Consensus isn't the goal at all -- better appreciation for plurality is.

How about asking which portion of the forum is your favorite?

See shouldazagged's reply, he gets it. And added, asking for a favorite doesn't necessarily get the same reply as asking to pick only one forevermore; ice cream sundaes might be my favorite meal, but they wouldn't be my pick if they were to be the only meal I could have going forward.

Interests and preferences reflect values, and it's nice to see what values -- alike and different -- are reflected in the membership.

I scan all the revolver forums, and have learned quite a bit about Smith and Wesson revolvers there. I don't post much in these forums, as I really don't know as much as I like to think I do:confused:.

I spend most of my time in the Lounge, as I don't have to know to much about much of anything to be one of the "class clowns" there;)

Impossible to say. Each forum has it's own atmosphere as well as its resident gurus; collectively there's more wisdom here than any place I can think of.
