If you won the lottery... Say $10 million...

I would give a lot away to others that needed a little help.
Some people need help with artificial limbs, handicap modified vehicles, or home modifications. I would like to help people that need job training. It would have to be small scale but I think I could make a difference for a modest number.

For myself I would retire because I hate working. I would travel some.
Pay off my brother's debts..

Actually, just start a foundation in your name and people will donate and most likely never run out of money for your cause.

Truthfully now, after buying at least a 3_4,000 sq foot home, two new cars and pay my gals med expenses. If everything comes out good health-wise, a three month long trip to Germany, Switzerland, France, England and Sweden, would be for the both of us. Would also give both of us to see any friends we have in those countries.

A decent percentage would go to our church's too.

The little things will come after.

ONE Million for me to invest and spend wisely.

NINE Million would set up a Charitable Trust.
Most money would only be donated on "Matching Fund" basis.
If others will not support the needs; ... Why should I be the only one?
Would also set up scholarships honoring two or three college instructors that made a difference for me.

My "relatives" and "friends" are not deserving of any large amounts.
I have no wife or children.

I'm thinking, take about a dozen envelopes, put about 5 grand in each one. Go visit people who really get on your nerves, hand them an envelope, and tell them, "Don't ever let me see you again."

If I won 10 million dollars tax free I would make a list of 10 charities and give each charity on the list one million dollars each.

I honestly dont think I would start a charity or organization - just for the fear of getting frivolously sued.

I'm also thinking all the wounded warriors who needed it would be driving one of those tracked wheel chairs plus anything else those guys and gals need.
I just did the math and its sad. @ $3500 each( a guess) and maybe 5000 needing one( does anyone know how many vets need one?), it wouldn't be enough.
If the gov. Wants to subsidize something, they should start there!

So much for the first day...

Since the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta has decided to close our over 100 year old church, I wouldn't give any to the church. Mainly because it would end up in the Presbytery's hands when we close and as far as I'm concerned they can go fly a kite. I might use some to see if we could buy the property from the Presbytery and keep going independently.

50 percent would go into investments.
Some would go to set up a fund to help provide prosthetic limbs for disabled kids.
Buy some land in Pike or Upson County, GA

If I won 10 million, my. Old lady would have to hit it too. Because
it would cost her that much to find out where I was. Then I would
spend the money on cheap booze, fast women , and guns. After
I paid off grand kids student loans.

I have more fun thinking about what I'd buy my friends and family than what I'd buy for myself!

I'd build my mom and sister a small fortress, one that would have room for me and my wife to hunker down in if and when the need arises.

I have no idea what I'd do personally, because my wife hasn't been consulted yet. I'm pretty sure travel and the Caribbean would be involved!

I do know that I'd do my best to get one of Elmer's guns!

First, I'd have a couple of $8 martinis and a ribeye with a side of linguini. Then I'd buy a Sprinter van and fit it out so I could sleep in it with the motorbikes moved out. A bike in the van, a couple more on a trailer.

I'd spend a little money fixing up my 1847 former stagecoach stop in the burbs, and replace the garage. That would give me a nice landing spot in MN for the warm months. The rest of the year I would ramble the Southwest, ride the desert, visit retired friends, maybe ride down to Mexico every so often.

Conchita would no doubt insist on a beach vacation now and then.

Or else, change my name and leave town, find some rural acreage and get a couple of Aussies and maybe a few goats to keep them entertained. It is hard to beat a slow-roasted goat BBQ.

10 mil free and clear...

I'd pay off my house, invest everything else for a good rate of return.

Then I'd take the wife on an extended road trip across America.

I'd make arrangements to let my daughter "buy" our current house with us as the bank and sure and certain consequences for missing payments (which would be amenable to her income) just like a traditional mortgage. Giving her a house would have negative consequences, you value what you earn, not what you are given.

We would look to relocate and buy a 4 bedroom multi level somewhere nice where fishing and hunting and family values and a CHL is available to a regular citizen.

I might find a way to anonymously donate to hospitals that provide artificial limbs or do charity work for children. This would come from the interest, leaving the principle to grow.

As to family...

Fuggettaboutit!

They're on their own!

Anyone that doesn't have time for me now, surely won't be rewarded later.

I'll assume 10 million clear.

1. $5 million in dividend bearing investments 6-8% return is $300-$400k for living expenses and walking around money
2. Up to $2.5 million for a lake house in an undisclosed location with walk in gun safe
3. $500k for each kid (3 of them) for college, down payment on a house, vehicle etc.
4. $500k to 4 or 5 charities (church, local library, Carry the Fallen, up to 2 others)
5. $300k gifts to friends in $10k increments
6. $100k new vehicles
7. $50k to wife for whatever she wants
8. $50k to me for whatever I want which would include day trips to local gun shops, firearm auctions and watch shopping in Geneva.

We'd invest it in my husband's business first. We would buy up as much exhibition Walnut and Cocobolo as we could find. :D Then we would buy a cabin in the woods where I could watch the stars at night and John could do some fishing in the river that runs through it. It would have to be in a state where we could shoot in the backyard too because I've always wanted to do that. We'd buy a motorhome and would travel the US (including AK), go to gun shows, visit friends and connect with forum friends. We would give some to our church too because they do a lot of great things. I like thinking like this! :)
