If your life had a theme song....

Many a night over the past few decades as I climb the stairs to bed..... the theme song from "Chisum" plays in my head.

Life's not always easy, for every battle one wins there's always another over the horizon.

But every morning one gets up and gets back in the fray............

Today......I've got a tree to sit under where I can watch the lake...........and think about all the things I've gone through to get here, what I've left behind.... and about life past present and future with my two boys and Barbara.

nuff said.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

I want it to be

but, in all reality it's probably more like this

Just one seems impossible, although I like many of the songs chosen in this thread. Life has so many stages, so many experiences, and we also evolve over time. And moods change by the hour.

But, some I've considered, reflecting on the topic, are Billy Joel's We Didn't Light the Fire, Tennessee Ernie Ford's Sixteen Tons, Pink Floyd's Money, Bruce Springstein's Glory Days, Ian Tyson's Fifty Years Ago, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, If We We're Vampires... And many more seem appropriate, also. (That's what songs do, right? Express our feelings about life.)

And probably no list would be complete without where we all started: Old MacDonald had a Farm.

I have reached a sufficient level of seniority to also enjoy this as a theme song, my wife was a flight attendant and such things as vacation, flight schedules etc. were based upon seniority. She would say, (" we don't get old, we get senior.") So having become senior myself here it is.[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N87Jbgj-IT0[/ame]
