well, at least not as defined by Heller and McDonald. They're much happier with the Justice Breyer version, state sponsored militias.

Out of approximately 12.7 million Illinois residents only 2.7 million live within the corporate limits of Chicago. Another 4 million or so live in the collar counties. That means about half of Illinois residents live outside of the Chicago area. While I agree that money is centered in Chicago, I think the problem is that U.S. "Downstaters" are under represented.

the population is above I 80 which runs south of Chicago .. its wall to wall people in those areas .. not enough population out in the country ..

All the other big cities including Springfield and Peoria are anti gun also because they have no control of the gangs that run through those towns .. that takes up the majority of the population of Illinois ..

The first Chicago gang banger of the year was shot here in Peoria yesterday the 9th of January .. all the gangs in the state are affiliated and when a GBer is wanted in one town he runs to his fellow GBer's in another town .. there are over 100 gangs in Chicago ..

The states with the worst gangs have the strictest gun laws because of them !!

Recon the courts will overturn the constitutional interpretation of the "Supremes" based on what this Illinois general Assembly "urges" them to do?

Pretty amazing that so many people elected to such a high office could be so ignorant of the actual history that lead to the drafting of the Second Amendment.

Never assume that anyone north of 80 is a liberal/gun-grabber/Rahm-Supporter or even an urbanite. Some of us came when it was cornfields and stuck. I am seeing more and more people take up shooting in this area. A new indoor range opened near me last month. The third in 3 years while three established ranges have either expanded or upgraded in that same time. The new shooters are not taking up rural past-times like duck hunting - they are buying handguns and black rifles for self-defense. Many (I think most) who are new to firearms take the time to get professional instruction. That is to the good - reduces NDs and employs people in legitimate firearms activities, which is not lost even on the local media. The local clubs have to turn away 3-gun competitors for lack of space.

With respectful apologies to Langston Hughes "Illinois voters: Sweet and docile, Meek, humble, and kind: Beware the day - They change their mind". The change is coming. People who were brainwashed with the image of evil guns are getting a taste of freedom. They are realizing that they can touch the cursed thing and not become homicidal maniacs. They are learning a new measure of self-reliance. They will not easily surrender that.

I agree the mess started north of 80, but the change will come from here in large measure, too.
