I'm changing peanut butter

A lot of peanuts have gone to their just reward since I last bought a jar of the stuff, but I sort of recall I liked Laura Scudder's crunchy, or maybe it was extra crunchy.

Never could stand Jif or Peter Pan, both of which tasted like they could have tried out an alternate name like "I Can't Believe This Stuff Ain't Peany Butter!" or, during the craze for generics some 30 years ago, "Homogenized and Artificially Sweetened Peanut Derived Substance for Eating."

I just eat the oven-dried low-salt nuts now when I eat them at all. Everybody else hates them, so every jar is all mine. Yum!

I like Natures Place All Natural (Crunchy). Ingredients: Peanuts and salt with 1 G of sugar - you need to stir it frequently as the (natural) oils separate - I don't like peanut butter that's made with artificial ingredients - peanuts and a pinch of salt is all you need - watch the label - if you see corn syrup solids, hydrogenated vegetable oils, etc, etc, put it back on the shelf.

I ain't stirrin' my stinkin' peanut butter. They supposed to do that at the peanut butter factory.
Ain't no 'solids' in creamy peanut butter.
Corn is good for ya.
Vegetables is good for ya.
Salt is good for ya (ain't you ever heard of "salt of the earth"?)

With maneating grizzlies loose everywhere, amorous bigfoots and dolphins ogling us, bulletproof possums attacking cajuns (is that karma?), giant snakes creeping all over Florida, zombies hunting us in droves, light bulbs contaminating entire city blocks, and aliens wanting to probe us, how can y'all be serious about peanut butter being dangerous?

Wow. All this thought and hand wringing over Peanut Butter. I kind of remember the 1950s. The old fat ladies in my grade school cafeteria made the best PBJ sandwiches. The problem was I lived close enough that I could hike home, so instead of a quick lunch and the rest of the time on the play ground, I was hiking home and back. It took the better part of the hour. But on occasion my mother had to go someplace, so I got to eat at school. It was a major financial drain, to hear my father. I didn't care. The PBJ and chocolate milk were great.

My mother tried to make PBJ at home. It was awful. As in unpalatable and inedible. Think of it, walking a half mile home and back to be offered something that was awful. So my mother decided to talk to the ladies in the cafeteria. They laughed at her because it was the cheapest bulk PB they could get (think free Gummint cheese.) But we discovered the ingredient I really liked and that made it so good was the grape jelly they used. Our home made jelly was terrible, more so than the PB.

My dad didn't think anything was wrong with my mothers jelly. For whatever reason, it didn't go well with PB.

Things are better now. My wife likes PBJ. I trust her, and the few times she makes it a month (if that often), it tastes OK. I don't ask the ingredients. I know something in it tastes like PB, something else J. Have you ever watched them make hot dogs? Other sausages? Could you eat them afterwards? I like that as a good reason not to watch things being made.

I agree with Mr. Burg, I did not eat at school often, but they had the best peanut butter. I think it came in 55 gallon barrels from the govt and they put it out in a big bowl. My favorite sandwich is toasted peanut butter. You make it like toasted cheese, but use pb instead.

My God Caj; Tell me this isn't so. PB & jelly has been on our menu for years. I never looked at the brand name, just bought the cheapest. My first wife & I raised 7 kids. All of them on PB & jelly. All are still living.I still like PB on my pancakes,French toast, Muffins, etc. Honey & PB on an English muffin while still hot from the toaster is a great breakfast. Plus a banana & juice. By the way I've been eating PB for over 75 years, outside of a thing for S&W's it hasn't bothered me in the least.

Can someone please inform me of the heretofore secret, concealed, alternative process by which organisms may be modified other than genetically? And, are we to think that Noah granted Mr. (and Mrs.) Peanuthead "permission to board", and that their progeny has remained genetically unaltered in the intervening eons?

Jiff in the pantry right now but no brand loyalty there. My favorite sandwich since I was a kid, long time ago, peanut butter and pickles, dill or B&B. Sounds weird but tastes GREAT, especially on toasted whole wheat bread.

Jiff Xtra Crunchy with all the extras. And it doesn't make Snuggles barf either. I use whole wheat bread for extra filler along with jam, not jelly, need the seeds to keep things moving.

I havent even looked at the list but heres my take. I have friends who just happen to make peanut butter at a local plant. So to help my friends keep their job I will buy JIF peanut butter. The smooth kind. It also helps me make my Peanut Butter Fudge. But a couple of years ago when I was in grade school my Mother worked in the school lunchroom. They let her purchase products and we had the best PB sammichs ever back then. Now all we ever buy is JIF and dont allow any other to touch my lips.

P.S. My wife likes the kind you have to stir up to use(yuck)

When I am elected president we will feed jail inmates Florida Pythons for lunch, possums for dinner. When I want to have some "meanie" fun I takes a ball of peanut butter and sticks it to the roof of the mouth of the dogs just behind their teeth. I used to do that to my ex wife too, but she caught on to trick after a couple years.

I grew up in the upper mid-west - if something doesn't have corn syrup in it - it taste like doggie doucke! I'll eat seaweed if it's mixed up with corn syrup!

A peanut butter and tomato sandwich cannot be beat! Peter Pan has served me well for nearly 68 years. It may be at the very bottom of the list but I do not plan to change now. I know what I like.
