I picked up my first S&W revolver yesterday. It is a
17-4 with the 8&3/8ths barrel. I love it and I need more!!
The problem is my local pawn shop has too many guns
to choose from. Please give me some guidance on these
guns. I am not sure about which ones are good deals, bad
deals, or more difficult to find than the others.
Here are the candidates:
27-2 5inch, blued, 95% $650
17-6 6inch, blued, 95% $550
19-3 4inch, blued, 90% $350
25-14 3inch, nickle, 98% $850

Please help before I get in a lot of trouble.

For my money I'd already own the M19-3 at that price.
The 27-2 seems a bit steep to me, but I'd make a counter offer.
Can't comment with any real knowledge on the other two.
You have my permission to make the purchases you have the money for.
Boy, that was easy. (You're welcome).:D

they all sound like good deals save for the 25-14

27-2 5inch, blued, 95% $650
17-6 6inch, blued, 95% $550
19-3 4inch, blued, 90% $350
25-14 3inch, nickle, 98% $850

He should give you better pricing if you buy them all, but at the very least get the 25, and/or the 27.

It looks like its time to start selling some ak and fal kits.
I am most iffy on the 25-14. The gun is beautiful and I
like the 45acp but I can't find much information on that
model.
I hope they are still there Monday.
Thanks for all of the insight,
Bret

Like others, the 19 would already be in the safe, that is no doubt the best deal. However, I just picked up a 99% 27-2 for about the same amount of money, so I'd be looking that one over as well.

Will a Bore Snake keep you from going under? :) .

These are all at good, not great prices as described. The model 19 is probably the best deal, but I would decide and concentrate on the one(s) you want. The 5" 27 would be the one that appeals to me most but that is personal preference. Enjoy the dilemma!

I would grab the 27-2 5", that is a good price as those have enjoyed increasing popularity recently and prices are rising.

i agree on the 27-2. it would just totally depend on what it looks like. 650 is a deal for a nice one. a little steep for a shooter.

The 27-2 and the M19-3 if your funds are limited.

Even if the M27-2 is a bit high it won't be in a few years and it may take you that long or longer to find another.

The M19-3 appears to be a good price.

The other two are not that difficult to find later on.

Hi,
Either the model 19-3 or 27-2. If you can afford both buy them. They are fair prices. Try to see if the pawn shop will come down on price. Now if you can only afford one, I would choose the one that feels the best in your hands. The 19-3 is great for people with small to average size hands. The 27-2 is for people with large hands. I own both. I have small hands and my model 19 is easier to shoot for me.
Good luck on your decision.
Howard

Depends on the state of your addiction...I recently had a similar opportunity....

I would buy the 19 on principle (you'll be able to easily recover the cost if you end up not loving the gun), but the 27-2 5" would be hard to pass up even at $650.

The 17 would definitely be coming home with me...another one that would be easy to sell and recover your investment quickly.
