I'm going to say something potentially offensive

Until S&W makes some nice single actions I will buy Rugers. I have revolvers and rifles,

Aesthetically I find S & W revolvers MUCH more attractive then Ruger offerings. S & W revolvers have that classic timeless look which Ruger is lacking. No offense intended, just my opinion.

My new sp101 is enroute back to Ruger because it left the factory with the front sight at 11 o'clock. That said, my model 60 Pro has the front sight at 12:30 and the rear sight channel milled at an angle. To get the sights square the frame has to be at about 1:30. Makes for an odd grip. May be time for a Glock. Best, Joe

Yeah, there were plenty of turkeys in the past. Detroit is now and has for some years been producing many cars that are outstanding values for the money and some that are world class. Help our economy out by buying US. Don

Ruger is American.;). I think the poster was generalizing that if you want to stay the top dog you have to keep reinventing. Personally with exception of my 500:D I havn't bought a new Smith lately but did buy a Super Black Hawk... Out the gate its a big lump that need smithing to be a keeper. Here's the thing they are CHEAP. sorta why a lot by a Taurus. IN THIS ECONOMY BANG FOR THE BUCK IS WHAT WINS. If Smith want to command high prices it better be stellar. Bring pinned and recessed back is what I say:)

That's fair, I think they go for the old West look................. Different market.

My favorite GP. Gives my 2.5" 686 it's run for the money. :)

One of my LGS has one of these and a 3" SP101 just sitting there... I've been on the fence for about a month and...they're still sitting there...what to do...what to do...

I'm with THEWELSHM-bring back p&r. Best, Joe

Thanks for agreeing Joe, I think Smith should rethink their game look at the drawing board and go back yes go back to the wheel gun market and look at it. There is a market for a great double and single action gun...They should revive it like Ruger is doing....

I also have a 3" Ruger GP100. It is a very nice gun and I would like to purchase additional Ruger double action revolvers in the future. I keep this particular gun in my bedside table and I carry it when I go out in the woods, etc. However, for some reason, I don't shoot it as accurately as my S&W double action revolvers. I'm wondering if it is something I'm doing, the different sights, etc...but after shooting it over the last couple of years it never seems to be as accurate as the Smith & Wesson revolvers. It is accurate enough for self defense...works well and fires every time...very rugged and durable. If I were in a shooting match, I would probably go with S&W, but I do like the Rugers. Best Wishes, B

I doubt that it is anything mechanical, for whatever reason the combination of factors such as grip, balance and trigger work better for you.

If you put each in a Ransom rest with ammo the gun likes, I'd bet the intrinsic accuracy would be quite similar or at worst not enough to be a factor in your shooting offhand with them. Don
