I'm kind of embarrassed to ask, but...

I have seen a number of things unloaded on a C-130 but if it had wheels it was driven on and off. never seen a 2.5 truck on a C-130 but I suppose if one fits it has probably been on a C1-30

I dropped a lot of stuff in my C-141 days, but never anything with a driver behind the wheel.

The only possible scenario in which such a thing is conceivable is something called a 'combat offload'. During a combat offload the plane is stopped on the taxiway and the cargo is released from the locks, then the plane is taxied out from under the cargo. If his deuce was palletized and there was some expedient need to get the cargo off faster than using a k-loader or forklift, the crew could elect to use combat offload procedures.

In the driver's seat while airdropping? No.

I saw many vehicles; three-quarter ton trucks, jeeps, and 105 Howitzers parachuted out of C-130 planes. Sometimes, if not most, the pallets they were strapped to would land upside down, sideways, or off the drop zone into the woods.

While it might not take the greatest amount of nerve to ride a "package" down, ( 007 does it all the time ) it would take a great deal of LUCK to come back and make the claim.

I think a deuce and a half will actually fit a C-130, (?) but I never saw one dropped. There ARE about ten variations of the plane, so.....

The C-130 has been in service for many years, and can perform some amazing maneuvers; but the strangest drill I was ever a party to was training to be picked up from the ground, by a fly-over C-130.

Yeah, I know it sounds more far-fetched than your truck driver guy, but it has been done more than a few times.
Take a google ride sometime on the "C-130 Hercules-Fulton recovery system".

Jessie, if the guy did the deed, it certainly was without any form of authorization. His tale makes me doubt he was in the Army at all, and even less chance he was in an Airborne unit.

Paratroopers jump the C-130 from both side doors,(say "prop=blast") as well as off the back ramp.

I know the answer, but as a Navy Seal and former Green Beanie, I'm sworn to secrecy.

Sorry.

:D:D:D

YOU WERE AN ARMY SEAL???..

That was a super secret outfit.. even the Navy did not have clearance... I am impressed:rolleyes:;):D:D:D:D

The only reason I know is because I was hand picked to start up that outfit in '56;).
Now that I think about I do seem to remember your application:confused::rolleyes:.. I always wondered if you made it!!
Congratulations :):):p

we had some MC-130E Combat Talon at Rhein Main AB with the Fulton recovery system on it. it is supposed to be one heck of a ride up to the airplane

Kinda doubt it. Every time? Ask the individual in question how many lower vertebrae he has. If the answer is more than 1, then it's BS.

You can count the rivets between the door and the tail with the edge of your steel pot if you don't exit right.
A buddy told me so.....;)

Didn't they do that one in The Dark Knight? Morgan Freeman's character said it was developed during the Viet Nam war as a way to retrieve downed pilots out of hot zones - without landing. He called it the "Sky-Hook" system ;)

Do those army seals travel with these?

Uhhhhh I'd be REAL careful...

Watching ALWAYS WATCHING..The first picture was just out of BUDS..Here is his Graduation Picture:eek:;):D:D:D

One of the James Bond movies used something like that, although I don't think the aircraft was a C-130. He launched a balloon carrying a cable, the plane flew over, snagged the cable, and pulled him into the plane. And maybe it also included his girlfriend of the moment. Seems it may have been from a boat. I don't remember details.

if you were stateside or overseas you may have been at some of the bases shown.
