I'm really tired of these.

Don't be taken in!
I'm still waiting for my Slim Whitman and Boxcar Willie 8 tracks I ordered back in '76!

Are you in debt up to your eyeballs...?
Do you have credit card debt on more than ten credit cards...?
Are people constantly calling you asking you to pay your bills...?

It's not your fault!

Call 800-NOT-DEBT now and we have someone standing by who can help you buy that new 60 inch flat screen TV that you've been wanting.

What's really funny is those guys and the guys who supposedly get you out of paying your taxes are big sponsors of our local right wing AM radio talk shows. You know... the guys always talking about responsibility & self sufficiency?

I miss Slim Whitman's TV ads. I used to think he was pretty geeky, until I came to the realization that he had recorded the single best vocal rendition of Ghost Riders in the Sky.

Then there's Esteban. He has an instrumental version of Ghost Riders, but I can't say I miss him.

Please consider the following a public service message:

Don't have several beers late at night and watch the Esteban commercial in which he peddles his guitar and the accompanying DVD that will teach you how to play it -- even at your advanced age, and with no other musical experience -- just like he does, all for the low low price of about $75.

The instrument will come to you previously played, and with worn frets that make it impossible for you to play, much less to play the way Esteban plays, even after he teaches you on his DVD.

You will end up donating the instrument to a local school's music department for whatever use they can make of it (spare parts, maybe?) and you will toss the DVD in the trash, where it rightfully belonged in the first place.

Granted, I have not seen this commercial in several years, and I suspect most of the guitars and DVDs have been sold or used as firestarters by now.

Please do not inquire of me as to how I know this.......:o

Marshwheeling, what about Zamfir, the pan flute guy. Do you miss him?:D

Of course folks......if you have cable or sat. your paying to watch adds...that's the really sad part of this, paying to watch adds to encourage you to buy useless junk you didn't want to start with.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Mike, apropos of your new signature line:

1. You're all wet.
2. What, couldn't afford steerage?
3. Mark my words, that Plimsoll feller'll be remembered.

(And no, I didn't have to google it to know what it meant....)

;):D

OMG! Them dope smokin' hippy prevents has even infiltrated the Welk show!

I haven't see a t v commercial in decades....when one starts, I get up and walk around or do some exercises until the program returns

;)

Of course you didn't, you're an ex-squid! ;)

Sir, you insult me by calling me a squid, a Navy man.

I was a Coast Guardsman or, as they are known today, Guardian. Known to the Navy types as a "shallow water sailor." :p

Deep enough to drown in, I say. Anything over a fathom is "extry."
