I'm sick

Nobody, and I mean N O B O D Y, has the right to mess on the other guy's fun. (as the poster/youtube 'expert' is). Speaking for myself, I've found that when I blurt out some offensive trash, I usually find out later that I was ignorant on the topic.

In this case, the OP could have phrased this as a question, the answers to which would reinforce his (alleged) decision. e.g. "I just got a 1911 and am having second thoughts, can you help me understand why I made a good decision?"

I too want my minutes back!

Whether you like Yeager's deliver or not, all he's saying is based on his extensive exposure on the range you have minimal problems with the Glock series of handguns, and that's not the case with 1911's. I agree with him.

And there is a obvious reason why some gunsmiths make a living working on 1911's, unlike Glocks.

Your actually saying that a Mil-Spec 1911 is less reliable than a Mil-Spec GLOCK?

Oh baloney. Some gunsmiths don't work on 1911's because they don't know how!! ANYBODY can take apart a Glock and replace parts. Many of todays so called gunsmiths are glorified parts changers. NOT gunsmiths.

And people buy Glocks for three reasons.
1. Because cops carry them.
2. Reliablity
3. Too lazy to learn how to take care of a 1911.

How many of the very best competition shooters shoot Glock? One. Dave Sevigny. Most others shoot the 1911 or some variant.

I wonder why?!

Glock is one of the few guns that a person can ignore and abuse. Yes they are great. No they are not perfect. Glocks and 1911's are not the problem. People are the problem. People don't want to learn to take care of their guns. So buying a Glock is easy for them. It's an excuse.

You know how many people that I know of that shot themselves with their Glock? Too many. Doesn't happen as much with a 1911.

Give a guy a Glock and another guy a 1911 that's been cared for and you'll see an even match.

I'm bummed out, just purchased a 1911 last week:(

Does anyone know if that gentleman had a T shirt on or was that a Tattoo?

He seemed to be a really nice individual, well mannered, very humble and someone you could trust your own mother with.:D

It is really difficult holding back how I feel about this super hero.;)

Life goes on, one other thing, notice he never turned around to let you see that third arm he has patting himself on the back.

I'm done and will go and fondle my 1911.:D

Consider the source.

A great many of the YouTube videos have about as much credence as you kid's favorite cartoons.

That's what I thought. Well, a couple things I do know for sure: (1) 1911s aren't for everyone, and (2) like anything else that they have made a few million of, there are going to be bad examples out there.

I have nothing against Glocks if someone happens to want one. They are just another well-made, reliable handgun... nothing special.

I didn't make a living working on them, but it was a nice supplemental income. But you seem to think that just because someone wants their 1911 worked on it means that it doens't work to start with. That's not the case usually, they just wanted it customized to their liking. With a Glock there isn't that much you can customize if you wanted to, but their owners still try, they just picked the wrong gun for the task of making it "personal".

Most of the cops around here choose the Glock, probably because they listen to idiots on the internet that tell them they are great and that they are idiot proof, sort of ironic there. And they have a lot of malfunctions, usually due to the lack of proper maintenance, but they are still malfunctions.

But the Glock has two serious drawbacks that were never mentioned in the video. One, they will fire without being in full battery, which I have seen 1911's do when they were hacked on by someone that didn't know what they were doing. But the second is that the 1911's frames aren't primarily plastic and were able to absord the blast of a ruptured case without damage.

1911's aren't my favorite handgun, and I feel that much of their popularity in todays market isn't based soley on their worth. But the Glock isn't better, not by a long shot.

But I do know where you're coming from, it depends on which range you get your experience from I guess.

I didn't bother watching the video. I carried GI-issued M1911A1s for sixteen years without a problem before they were pulled in favor of the M9s. (No further comment.) I carried a Glock 23 or 22 for a little over 2 years and never had a problem with them except the grip didn't feel right. I'm currently back to carrying revolvers on and off duty. Guess I couldn't make that guy happy with any of my choices.

Too bad, that.

You must know a lot of morons.
Personally, I don't know anyone who has shot themselves with anything, let alone be able to say "You know how many people I know who shot themselves with Glocks"? Sounds like Yeager in reverse.

Better sell that hunk of junk 1911 before it becomes worthless. ;) Want my FFL's info?

This guy is a tool. I don't know what was a worse decsion making that video or buying that T-Shirt. 1911s are great and so are glocks. If you buy a 1911 SHOOT IT! Make sure it works and get used to it. If you buy a Glock SHOOT IT! Make sure it works and get used to it. I would feel good with a 1911 or Glock. My choice is M&P but I like them all. When you started this thread I expected to see a video of a malfunctioning 1911 instead I only saw a blow hard trying to act like he is Rambo.

Just for the record:
I love the 1911.
I don't care for Glocks.

But that is entirely my own personal opinion. If you don't like 1911s and love glocks, ok then. Doesn't bother me a bit. To each his own.

Its been mentioned earlier, but let me point it out again. That video was not about 1911s nor was it about glocks. It was about advertising! The whole thing was just so this guy could promote himself.
Wanna make a name for yourself? Wanna be famous?
All you gotta do is appear in a public place and make a controversial statement. Some will agree with you, many will hate you. But they'll all know your name.
Ain't fame wonderful?

I like the part where he talks about a 1911's owner investing his ego in the gun. Yes that came from a Glock guy. No one invests their ego into a gun anywhere comparable to a Glock owner.

Maybe, Yeager can' t shoot 1911's well. Perhaps, J.Y. has hands that just
anatomically cannot fit anything, but the mechanically proficient,
yet disruptive lack of ergonomics and accuracy the Glops have.

1911s get gunsmithed as has been said in large part b/c they can be gunsmithed. Want a different bushing, grip, trigger pull? You can play with one all you want. Want a different grip on a Glock? I suggest PVC epoxy. lol.

Nothing wrong with either, but it's like saying pony cars are inferior to family cars b/c they get tinkered with more. They get tinkered with more b/c there are 10,000 after market options and they're owned by guys who want a customized ride.

FWIW I show that video of the Grebner guy shooting himself in my class, right at the section of the book about practicing with your holster. So in a way he's doing his part to help others through stupidity. Quite a feat really. ;)
