Hello there, I'm new to this forum but not new to guns. I am a regular Member at ARFcom and have been since 2003. Some of you over there know me. Once I post pics and talk a little you'll know who I am. And to those of you not over there, hello there!

I think my Dad is a Colt guy, and My Step Dad is a Smith and Wesson guy. The Colt on my Dad's side comes from my Great Grandpa who used to shoot bullseye competition in the 60's and used a Colt Huntsman .22 and a Colt .45 1911. I don't have the 1911 but I am blessed to have the Huntsman. Which is a fantastic .22 btw.

But, my foray with revolvers and Colt have not been good to me. When I first got interested in having a gun for Self Defense my Dad gave me his Colt Detective Special. A beautiful little revolver it is. But after having used it some and then when our state adopted CCW a few years back, I started carrying it. Well, needless to say I was very inaccurate with it and I thought it was just me learning DA and small revolvers. And I'm sure some of that it is true. And the few times I put it on the bench and shot it single action it was very accurate.

But anyways.... I was told by a gunsmith that it was out of time. And after researching it more, I found it to be true. Which I thought was kind of dumb because the thing is pristine and my and my Dad have not put that many rounds through it.

Anyways..... So I was on the search for a replacement for a carry gun and unfortunately my Step Father passed away last summer. My Mom needed some money for hospital bills and I bought his 442 that he carried. Well, the first time I shot it I was like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better with it than the Colt DS. So maybe the out of time thing had more to do with the accuracy. I don't know. But all I know is I really like the 442. Although I do like the extra round of the Colt in a gun similar sized. But I guess I'll just live with that.

Then the only other gun I have right now that I can CCW is a Beretta M9. And while I have done it sometimes, it's kind of big and the big thing is when I sit down it always pushes up on my belt. Well, another gun my Step Father had was an M&P .45 with the safety and I bought that from her. I have shot it before in the past and liked it much better than a Glock I had and other Glocks I've fired. I think Glocks are good guns but they just don't jive with me very well. Some people say just shoot it until you get over it but to me an M&P just fits so much better. Plus, the slide is a bit shorter than my M9 and is a tad bit more comfy when seated. It's not much smaller but it is also a bit thinner. Just carries a bit better. So I'll be carrying that when I have the right clothes for it. Like when it's cooler out. I gotta get out and shoot that one again though.

And then my Mom also gave me my Step Dad's M19 service revolver he used as a CHP a long time ago. So you could say I have been blessed with a trio of Smith's and I'm really liking it. I think they have made some great guns here and I really appreciate them.

My next thing is to run some of the +p Gold Dot's I got through the 442. And of course shoot all three again. The M19 is a tack driver and is making DA shooting feel good and effective. Whereas the Colt made me feel like a louse. LOL.

I'm also going to start a thread about the custom grips my Step Dad had on his M19. Because there is a possibility they are Farrants and I don't really want them. If they're real I would sell them and give my Mom the money from them. I have to take some more detailed pics of them when I do that thread. I think.

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania!

thanks guys!!!

I just noticed that my screen name is kind of unfortunate. It's my blood type but then it could be easily viewed as "A Big Piece Of S^&*" LOL. Duh, how did I not notice that?

You think I should change it? :)

Maybe I should change it.

Well, if you hadn't pointed that out... And I'm rather quick with acronyms. ;) I'd say leave it alone, but I'm curious how you came to choose your blood type as a username. Are you a vampire? LOL

Welcome to the kindest forum I've joined in over 20 years of plodding across the Internet.

Since there are not a lot of AB's in the world, it's sort of a distinguishing factor. I've heard only like 7% of people in the world have AB blood. I'm a weirdo.

I came to know my blood type because I've had lots of health issues. Lyme Disease sucks.

Welcome from Texas ABPOS. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Nice handguns there.
