Try as I might, my internetical skills have taken me nowhere. I’m looking to acquire a spare M&P 2.0 9mm Compact slide. I want to use my pistol as EDC but also in IDPA/USPSA in multiple classes and as much as I’d like 2 different pistols it’s not in the cards right now.

Any thoughts on getting a spare slide for competition purposes?

Any thoughts on where to get a spare slide?

I have searched for such a thing as a spare slide. Except for Glock, I cannot find such an item.

In wish you well on your search.

I would think as it is a newer release that availability from 3rd party vendors may not be out there yet. So unless SW somehow has them in their parts bin for sale, it may be a tough find right now.

May have to find a complete 2.0 9c on sale for a cheap price and have a "spare parts" gun if that even makes sense

A spare slide might end up costing you almost as much as a new gun, in the long run. Start saving for a new gun. Or look for a deal in a used M&P and use it/set it up for competition.

What he said.
Even with Glocks, where spare slides are common, a complete assembly will generally run north of $300-350. Going the full used gun route will not cost much more and give you a spare frame /parts and additional mags.

That’s what I could find as well. The only slides available were the ported 5” slides at Midway, SSS, and couple other places.

I’ll be saving up then. Hmmm, a 5” M&P Core in 9mm would be fun in open with an RMR, awwww yesss.

I was doing the same, looking for a slide. I just ended up buying another 9c 2.0.. It was $399 and $7 shipping. Now I'll have a complete spare gun. :D

Yes I do. As an IDPA match director and a USPSA CRO, getting another slide for your compact M&P 9mm "for competition" makes no sense to me. In IDPA, you are in CCP division....period. You can't put on a longer slide and shoot stock (SSP). Ports, optics are both banned in IDPA.

In USPSA, you can shoot the M&P 5" pro in Production, but the compact is less than optimum in any division.

Suggest you read the equipment rules carefully and shoot several matches before making major equipment purchases that you may regret..

I think the OP wants to put the full size slide on the compact frame. Perfectly legal in IDPA for CCP division.

There is no reason he is stuck in ccp in IDPA.The 2.0 Compact is perfectly legal in ssp.And can be shot quite successful in both ssp and production in USPSA.I have used mine in both with good results.

Perhaps one more thing to consider. I have had more than one gunsmith that I trust tell me the wear on the gun will different as one slide gets nearly all the work for comp and practice while the other side does easy duty. The rails will always be getting worn and could possibly become a problem for the little used slide as the gun and work horse slide wear together. I have no idea how many rounds this would take. If shooting competition, you'll be way ahead of the "average" shooter on round count.
I had a used Sig Pro .40 and had Sig fit a new 2022 9mm slide to it. Worked fine but was told the same thing by Sig. My brother has it now and doesn't shoot nearly as much as I do.

Neither of which involve buying another slide and/or barrel "for competition use." You can "shoot up" to higher divisions as long as no disqualifying modifications are made. If shot stock, the Shield can also be shot in SSP if you're just shooting a match for your enjoyment.
