In Praise of the Revolver

Inherently more accurate yes......if I shoot slow. Shooting fast I'm much more accurate with a semi auto. I won't win any matches but that's not my goal.

Wasn't there a cop who shot a perp from a 110 yards away with an M&P 40 using one hand? Seems accurate to me

I have a M&P VTAC 9mm. That thing is almost like shooting a shotgun at the target. I shoot very very very well with 1911's and Revos.

Revolvers are STILL great SD, EDC, CCW for most armed civilians and that is exactly what I CCW. Simple, reliable, safe and fast to bring into action and they fire a formidable round if you choose wisely.

If I were an active LEO in today's world, I would more than likely carry a Glock (I have never even owned one) high capacity .40 or .45 caliber pistol. Not that I think they are more reliable, but 5 or 6 rounds for LE purposes is just not enough today.

When newbies ask me to recommend a gun I pretty much always recommend a small or medium frame .38 revolver. They are operationally simple, very reliable and fairly easy to shoot reasonably well with a reasonable amount of practice. I carried a Colt DS for many years as my principle SD weapon. I now carry a very small .38 Super 1911 most of the time, but the DS is not totally out of the picture.
