The Army saw fit to send me to the Las Colinas area of Dallas this week and thought I might check out a few shops? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Just west of downtown Dallas is Ray's Hardware and Sporting Goods. It is worth a look. Kinda like stepping back in time.

I checked out Porter's Army/Navy store....nice people, awesome customer service. They had some uniform stuff I was looking for.....stayed open and let me come after hours, cant ask for much better than that. No revolvers that I was interested in, but they do have a few used pistols.

Thanks for the heads up on the hardware store....I will try to get over there.

+1, great shop!

I have never been to Jackson Armory, but their website showes some really nice stuff. I need to put it on the “to do” list.

You ought to make a trip over to Cabela's while you're here, it's north of Ft Worth on I-35W.

Euless Guns & Ammo in Euless isn't too far from you, and has some neat stuff from time to time.

Same for Pioneer Gun Shop in Bedford.

Bachman Pawn in Dallas in another one you might enjoy.

Beretta Gallery if you like high end shotguns.

Gun Masters and Bullet Trap in Plano.

Bullet Trap and DFW Gun Range are a couple of indoor ranges if you want to shoot a little.

Thanks again guys. I got a chance to go looking around and made it over to Ray's. That is a pretty cool stop in this area. It reminds me of Thompson's in North Little Rock, AR. They tend to lean on the high side of most of the prices, but its a cool place to check out. They only had two used S&Ws o/h today, in case anyone was looking to make a stop. Ran short on time so I did not make it to any of the other stops.

Model 41 Barrel and/or Mags in Dallas Area

Nice listing of shops -- I'll be in the North Dallas area his Thursday for a swim meet. I know there's a gun show this weekend, but are there any shops that might have barrels/mags for a Model 41?

And does the Cheaper Than Dirt retail store over in Ft. Worth have much of the same stuff that their online store has (at the same prices)?

Many thanks for your help,
"Point Blank" Frank

Don't know if the original Ray is still around, but I remember him as quite a character. I've been in the store when too many people were browsing and not enough buying. Ray turned the lights out and told everybody to leave: "store is closing".

My son and I went to Ray's Gun Shop and Hardware a couple of weeks ago. They had lots of business and quite a few guns. According to their sign, they have been there since 1948 or 49.
