Info help on a Heavy Duty for my Son.

Cool Iggy now are you and he going to shoot that HD and let us know how it does ? I guess you know the rules once you post the picture of a firearm on this forum it sorta becomes communal property so it is our business to keep tabs .

Pretty gun, but the premium for an excessively large and heavy 38 baffles me.

Kinda like why would you buy a Corvette when a Volkswagen will get you to the 7-11 just the same?

The 38/44 was S&W's first effort at juicing up the .38 M&P that eventually led to the development of the .357 magnum. For some collector/shooters, owning a .38 M&P, an HD and a Registered or non Registered Magnum is just part of what we do as gun nuts. ;)

Kind of like why a coin collector has a 1935 penny but also has one from 1936.

He's a Marine stationed in New Orleans.. He will no doubt bring it along the next time he visits.

I'll have some 38/44 loads cooked up for sure. I have a 38/44 Outdoorsman a year older than his HD.

Old Elmer's 38/44 loads make that thing shoot like a one handed carbine.

There may be some cold beverage wagers made on which one shoots the best.:)

Considering the fixed sights on your son's new revolver(Yupeee!!!), it's only fair to consider grouping only.

Edit. Your's is beautiful. I'm glad I am not an envious person..:D

45726 was shipped 6 Mar 1936, so it may be in the same shipment to OK Highway Patrol.

Wow, that's interesting. Maybe my son will follow up on that. It's just a shooter but it still mighht make a letter worth while.
Thanks for the info.

If the defenders of the Alamo had of had one of them in each fist things might have turned out a little different !

Nobody, not even Dad, can out shoot a Marine, especially one with 30 years of service. :-)

Since I am kinda old and cranky/crusty too, sometimes, (most of the time) my wife and daughters can out shoot me, but I love it.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Thank you Sir. You don't think an old man would stack the deck a little do you?

I do, and while my wife used to have to wait on me when we rode our bikes on the flats, I could "Crush" here on the hills, and did every time just for fun..

When she asked me how I managed, I just told her I "cheat every chance I get", LOL..

so my bike was about 5lbs lighter

I had much better wheels, ie lighter

I knew how to "spin",, she really didn't understand how to down shift to keep your RPM up??

Finally, I am very motivated!

My wife was a Deputy Sheriff back way back when. She regularly outshot all of the other Deputies during monthly qualifications. It would take 29 days for them to start speaking to her and then they'd shoot again.

She always out shoots me, but then she has a high bowling average, and won hawk throwing contests in 5 states. I think she "wills" them bullets, balls, and hawks to the target.

I'm tickled plumb to death when she does and I'll humbly accept things if my son does too. I'm old don'tcha know.:)

I hate to admit it, but I get the shakes after I shoot for a little while. Hitting the target where I want is just a stroke of luck. If I shoot .22 rifle with the wife, she is like a machine with the Ruger 10/22 at 25 yards. She shoots it quickly and the bullets go in the same hole. I rigged a cheek rest on the stock so she can anchor her face and she grins like a mule eating saw briars after she puts a whupping on me. :-) I am proud of her and the girls, they make me proud.

Have a blessed day,

Leon
