info needed on these two smiths

I have recently acquired 2 antique smiths.
1 i believe is a very nice no.1 in 22 short. it has all color case on hammer and appears to be original blued. patent mark on top of barrel is very crisp. ser#114755
2 is 4th model 32 double action. it has a letter from smith with it. the box appears to be original. ser#244871

I am looking for value of both and date info on the no.1

I think the long .32 is just neat. What can you say about the extra grip screw?

I can't help on dollar value. Did you not pay what you thought was a reasonable price or did you "acquire" them without money?

you know i never noticed the extra screw. not sure why it is there. i took it out and grips are still tight.
i found the no.1 in an attic it was wired to a display case of sorts that the previous owner made. the 32 i acquired from a family member

Your Model 1, 3rd Issue was shipped around 1867 and appears to be in nice condition, but I can't quite tell if the finish is original or not from the pictures. If all original, it should be worth $350 to $450. The 32 Double Action has some wear, but has a very desirable box that I would guess is original to the revolver. Does it have a serial number on the bottom of the box? The 6" barrel is uncommon, but for some reason, this model revolver has not yet acquired a large collector following. I purchased a 6" blued 32 DA last year on GB for $210 and was REALLY HAPPY! They are very hard to value because of the limited market appeal today. I would say the box is worth over $200 and the gun should be worth $300 because of its scarce barrel length . . . BUT . . . you need a buyer that wants it bad enough for that kind of money. I find that that 32 DA was shipped around 1903, so it is a modern and not antique firearm. What does the letter say?
