The Springfield / Stevens Model 56 rifles were made from 1934-1945 with just under 100,000 made, so by no means rare but also no longer all that common. From 1934-38 they had a safety built into the cocking knob with a pull and turn activation. In 1938 they switched to a side mounted safety.

They are a very simple design and we’re designed to be practical budget rifles. They were not intended to go head to head with the Winchester Model 52 or Model 75.

At $119 it’s priced right if it’s in very good condition. Half that if it’s in only fair condition.
