Not much info on these only saw one other post. Like the title says any info on these would be appreciated. Seems they are pretty scarce. Product code 103626 .

7.5 inch unfluted cylinder Power Port 629-5 44 Magnum prelock but MIM. I have a lead on one in box with the manual but nothing else, decent shape but I'd be in to it for around $1050. I don't see them come up for sale enough to know what they really are worth.

I already have a 629 Classic 5 inch and I usually don't like porting or barrels over 6 inches so I'm on the fence.

That is a pretty good price for that model...

Only have two .44 Magnums left, an OM Ruger Super Blackhawk and a 629-5 5" Classic that I bought 6 months ago that is still NIB as in only has the three rings on the cylinder face.

Like you, I'm not big on DA guns with long barrels. Would be a great hunting gun however...

I don't know if I can help much but I have a -4 with a 6 1/2" power ported (PP) barrel and a -5 with a 5" barrel and MIM parts.

First off, the -5 has the best out of the box trigger of any S&W I own or have owned and have zero problems with MIM parts. Those who do are free to swap them out but IMO they won't have a better revolver. Mine will stay as is till my heirs sell it.

And you are right in that the PP models are uncommon at least in So. Florida and searches I've made on auction sites. With that out of the way I paid stupid money for the -4 (one of 200 made) and I'm not sorry.

As far as 7 1/2" barrels go, I too prefer shorter barrels from 4" to 5" and my -4's 6 1/2" bbl. stretches that limit but that's a personal thing only you can decide on.

My longer -4 barrel with the PP stays on target about as good as my nose heavy 7 1/2" Ruger .44 mag Bisley and the -4 isn't as nose heavy, so I have to say that the PP works pretty good. In a longer barrel like the one you posted about likely it's even better.

Now value... To me any model without the lock is worth a premium and $1050 sounds darn good to me.

Remember what I said about me paying stupid money for mine? Maybe I'm not a very good judge of value. I can say this though, I like stuff that isn't cookie cutter that everyone else has and can get so if you're like me, get it :-)
