Hi everyone. I have a decent lead on a NIB, at least it looks NIB to me, 48-4.

I left my Std. guide to S&W in another city, so I'm in a bit of a bind.

S/N puts the gun as made in 1980. 8XKXXXX Has box and all accessories, box like new. 4" Barrel, blue is flawless no turn line I can see. Whats a fair price in your area?

Also, I assume you can also shoot .22LR in this model i.e. 357/38spl in a Model 27... Forgive my ignorance if incorrect.

Thanks a lot!

I don't see a lot of these in my area but in that condition I would think $550 to $600 with box and goodies. I don't believe you can shoot both 22 rounds. There is a little difference in them. S&W offered a 22 LR cylinder to go with the M48 like Ruger does with it's 22 single action.
Post some pics if you get it. Good luck.

Hmmm. That's kinda what I was thinking too. Can't remember a revolver that shot both and only had 1 cylinder. Thanks!

I don't know how it is there but here in Arizona everyone who has a good .22 magnum generally keeps it. If you have a good one for sale you start bidding wars @ gun shows & get calls in the middle of the night wanting to know if you still have it. $550-600 sounds about right. Don't shoot .22 LR's in a .22 magnum cylinder! a .22 mag. barrel w/ a LR cylinder will work fine but LR cases split, stretch, etc.in a mag. cylinder. There's only .001 difference in the bullet diameter but .006 in the cases. The mag. bullet is inside the case where the LR is the same diameter. The model 48-4 is a gem, I've only seen 2 in my life, 1 w/ 2 cylinders & 1 w/ just the magnum.

I have a 48-4 with both cylinders and its accurate with both.
Definitly a keeper!!

Wow, that's really nice. How hard would it be to get a .22LR cylinder if this one doesn't have it included? Going to check it out today, wish me luck. Their price is a bit over what has been suggested here, but with TT&L maybe I can get out the door for around that.

S&W doesn't fit 22lr cylinders to them anymore so its just a case of finding an extra cylinder. Probably not easy to find and won't be cheap if you do..
I won't say what I paid for this one but, I could double my dollars pretty easy I'm sure..
