Thank you in advance for your time,

Seeking information and value on a M29 in my possession for a long time. Serial # S22 0834 MOD-29, Blue is 98%, I realize the grips are not original but appear to be from the period the gun was made, anyone recognize them?
Any information about this 29 would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Leonard

This is one of my favorite serial number ranges for the Model-29 because between S219XXX-S231XXX a collector can find the Model 29, 29-1 and 29-2. Your gun (very nice buy the way), would have shipped sometime in 1962 most probably but only a factory letter will tell you for sure. Thanks for posting. :D

Chuck

Nice Model 29! I know you've enjoyed it.
Sorry, I don't recognize the grips though.

Leo918 is correct. I believe your grips are just like mine that I had installed on my Service S&W Mod 29 and my Ruger Blackhawk amost 50 years ago.

I suspect that the grips on your 29 were made by Herritt in Idaho to fit the original owner.

I know that on my two revolvers, and also for those of my wife's two revolvers, Herritt made the Jordan Trooper grips to fit exact tracing measurements of our hands so that the grips were an exact fit.

With grips that are made to fit it is almost instinctive to hit the target every time by draw and instinctive fire without careful aim. Both my wife and I regularly practice, as we have all the years that I was on duty as LEO, drawing and hitting a hand size target at 25 feet "fireing from the waist" without aiming. The grips that fit make almost automatic pointing the gun automatically just as you would point a finger.

Thank You All!!

The welcome to this forum is overwhelming. The information share here is beyond compare by a great group
of knowledgable enthusiasts.
I can't thank you all enough, your input provides direction
to avenues of knowledge that would have taken me much time to discover, or maybe never would.

Best regards to all!
Leonard
