Inherited Mod 36 (No Dash)

I recently inherited a Nickel plated Mod 36 (No dash). The Serial # is AAW 9983. Looking for any educated guesses relative to manufacture date, etc.
I don't believe the gun has ever been fired however needs a good cleaning. Thanks in advance.

mid 80s I believe. The Model 36 no dash was made for such a long time that there are just a ton of serial ranges.

Other serial numbers near yours in the database suggest Smith & Wesson might have shipped your Model 36 around April 1983.
