Inherited revolvers I just brought home.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry about your dad.
Wow! Nice inheritance.
That K22? Is it wearing non-relieved diamond target grips or just diamond targets?

Here's both sides. Non-relieved.

So awesome for you to have such nice heirlooms from your Dad. My Dad passed in 07 and when I was a baby he sold his only pistol he owned (that I know of). He also owned a shotgun and rifle but sold those many years before that. I only know his pistol was a .380 Luger and it had a hair trigger and that is why he sold it cause he was afraid to keep it around after I was born and didn't have the money to get it sent to a gunsmith anyway. Him and mom had it really hard to start off. He told me he would always keep it under his drivers seat after he pulled into a strangers driveway one day to turn around, and had a shotgun pointed right in his face. He once said that he wished he had kept that pistol to hand down to me.

He always talked about firing expert in the army and even showed me once an original target he kept from his army qualifying. It had been lost for many years but I have recently found it along with my fathers old Army photo that was thought to have also been lost back when he got out of the Army in 1966. That photo and that old scrap of paper is worth more than gold to me now. It is about all I have of his really. I didn't really get into guns until after he passed, but I know he loved shooting and being competitive and that he was very good at it. I think we would have had something else in common. I think about him every time I get out my guns. He was my best friend. Always will be.

Sorry to have rambled on, but Kestrelman talking about his Dad and being kind enough to show us his Dads guns, made me think of my Dad.
Again. Your Dad had great taste in guns. Keepers for sure.

My Dad also served in the Army/Korea. And he ALWAYS wanted a Luger, but never got one. I brought back what I felt comfortable travelling with, and left others for the next trip. Along with these revolvers I brought a G19, his shotgun (Winchester 101 over-under) a model 70 featherlight and a customized 1970's Mauser. I remember him letting me shoot the shotgun on a hunt with his work buddies. The m70 is spotless with a redfield, and the restocked Mauser just looks
FANTASTIC! So many memories. Thanks for sharing yours!

Very nice and thank you for sharing them with us!

You have some great revolvers there and I am sure that you will remember your father every time you handle or shoot them.

I hope they stay in/with your family forever, and might I suggest that you write down/ document something about each of them and include some pictures of your father with them (even better if you have pictures of him with the revolvers!) so that future generations can remember your father, while they enjoy those firearms!

The gun above it has grips that have the relieved area at the top of the left grip. It is kind of shaped like a football.
Non-relieved are not seen as often and are worth more.

Really? I have some on my Model 19..... I'll have to get a pic up later.

Super nice collection Kestrelman. I bet you are proud and happy. If the Winchester 70 is a pre model 64, it's worth a lot of money. What caliber is it in?

I received a lot of guns from my Dad about 20 years ago and it sure was exciting. My Father in Law passed away a couple of years ago and I got his Model 19. It doesn't make up for the loss, but makes you thankful for the gifts. I also bought a few guns of his from my Mom because she needed the money. That also was a blessing. One of those was a 442 that I carry pretty much 24/7.

I posted them all in a photo on another site under "revolvers" and posted it here on a suggestion. I'm only looking for information, not making some statement. That being said here is the information I posted on the 1911 site as to the numbers on these revolvers.

Okay. Here's the numbers:
S&W K22
Barrel stamped K22 LONG RIFLE OTG R
Body stamped MADE IN USA MARCAS REGISTRADAS SPRINGFIELD MASS
Serial No must be under grips?
S&W Model 19
SN ACS1568
4" Nickel 357 Mag

S&W
SN N340256
Blued
357 Mag

Colt SAA P1850
45 cal.
5 1/2" barrel
SN 82922SA
Given the condition, you do realize that Colt in 45 is a 2k dollar gun or a little more if it's in 45LC. Definitely the most valuable one in the group.

It is in 30-06. Purchased in 1981.

I appreciate the information. I still have to sort through everything and nail it all down. The last time I visited I came home with these 1945 unissued Rems. The 1911 forum pretty much soiled their pants over these. It was a member there who suggested I post the S&W's here.

Kestrelman, I think that we would be interested in those Remingtons here too. We are a pretty broad minded bunch!! What an incredible pair!!

More pictures would be great, along with some back story. I am a member over at the 1911 forum also, but don't go there much. I'll stop by and see what you posted. I'm les.b there also. Thanks for sharing!!

Best Regards, Les

You keep this up and I'll be changing my pants.
Wow!

*chuckle*

Every now and then I have to redo the math to remind myself these are 72 years old and look as good as the day they came off the Rem. assembly line...

Anyway, I'll post another picture of these since your interested. The whole story is on the other forum. Remington Rand 1911's - 1911Forum Incidentally, my Dad got these in 1962 through an NRA sale. He paid $17.00 each!

What an incredible collection to have handed down. All first quality and very desirable guns. You are extremely fortunate to have such a collection and I hope you keep them in the family for as long as possible. Thank you for sharing.
