I wanted to see if anyone has ever had a smith replace the barrel on their J Frame with a longer barrel? I wanted to see if the original 2 incher on my Model 36 could be replaced with a 3 inch barrel...like on a Model 60.
Install a longer Barrel?

I've wondered about the same thing with my S&W model 66-2. I'd prefer to have a 4" bbl instead of the 2 1/2" bbl
While the shipping costs are significant, the Factory is one of the best places to have a barrel changed. They will install a replacement barrel that you provide if they don't have the type of barrel you want in stock. I had the factory install a barrel I provided on a Model 64 and the cost was around $75. The shipping to and from the factory was around $100.
